Determining Value of a Bay Boat?

A less than computer literate friend of mine asked me to help him come up with a value of his bay boat that he wants to sell.
I looked on fb marketplace and couldn't find one like it so I thought I'd ask the boards opinion.
22' nautic star with a Yamaha 225 with a ttop. Pretty darn good shape for a 2005 boat.
Any guesses?

Quick Google and priced with standard options J.D.Power
May be +/- a G or 2?
ETA: if it’s in that good of shape, start at $20k OBO and go from there. He’ll find out really quickly if people are interested or if he needs to drop the price. Guess it just depends on how bad he wants to dump it.

Sorry, no help here. Boat prices are hard to do. I’m looking for something like that, but without the T Top.

Many factors you haven’t provided…2 or 4 stroke, aluminum or galvanized trailer, condition of seats/gel coat, electronics, trolling motor, power pole, etc. could be $8K - $28K

Good point.
4 stroke, brand new aluminum trailer, trolling motor with anchor lock, power pole.
I haven't seen the boat in person in about a year, but the pics he sent me the gel coat looks pretty darn good. It's white with a blue stripe.

He’s got a chance of getting a 22-25k for if it’s in that good of condition, and everything works as it should. This is the best time of year to be selling about. As summer comes around, people will be looking to buy. Just depends on how quick he wants to sell, or if he’s fine with sitting on it for a few weeks/months to find the right buyer.
I’d post it for at least 23k, and expect to get rid of it for no less than 20k.
The T-top, new trailer, power poles and I pilot trolling motor all add value to the boat in my opinion. Just need to wait for the right buyer.

I’d start at $25K, does he know how many hours on the F225? Most of his value is in the engine and trailer. I have a Yamaha YDS and can tell him the hours and engine details if he’s near BR. Good luck….I have the same boat but a F250 and 1 year newer, have it valued at $35K based on condition and accessories.

No way he’s getting much over $20k for a 20 year old boat with a 20 year old outboard.

Agree
Just sold one back in January
You can list it for 25k but expect
15k
If I never have to sell anything else on FB marketplace I will be a much happier person

Best bet is to look at what brokers are listing similar boats for, and assume those are listed 15%-20% over actual value (i.e. what someone will realistically show up and pay cash for).

I see The Boat Yard has two of these listed, a 2005 and a 2008, both without T tops but both have trolling motors and power poles, and they want $21,995 for each one and they both look like you'd expect 20 year old boats to look like condition-wise.
I'd start at $26,000, take any offer immediately above $22,000 but be willing to take $20,000 if no one makes a semi-serious offers right out of the gate, especially if it's cleaner than the ones Boat Yard has listed.

I sold my 2007 24' Sea Chaser with a 250 HPDI for 36k last year (that should be comparable to the Nautic Star boat) . Everything worked and had alot of new stuff on it, i pilot/dual garmins etc. I listed it for 38k and had alot of interest. Took 6 days to sell.

how many hours are on the motor?
Posted on 3/19/25 at 11:27 am to AuburnTigers
I asked him. He’s trying to get that number.
The boat is in houma at HH marine if anybody drives by there and cam look at hour meter, which may or may not be right.
