Sorry to hijack but it is truck related.

Can anyone recommend a tuner/chip for the GM 5.3L? Truck is an '09. primarily trying for more mpg.

Raises hand.

You can do it if you are mechanically inclined. Helps to have a buddy assist and some plastic trim removal tools. They provide very good directions.

Stock for stock = 6.2
Stock plus a few hundred = 3.5
Stock plus a few thousand = 6.2

This is all hp and tq numbers. The 3.5 wins mpg all day, everyday.

I, however, did not buy a 6.2 for mpg. I did buy it with the expectation of putting a ProCharger on it in 10k miles, when my warranty runs out.

From what little I know of GM tuning, there are much better options than Diablo.

Wheatley Tuning and Black Bear tuning are two of the best in the business for GM trucks. Think they both use EFI-Live handhelds...or HPTuners...which, as a Dodge guy, I'd kill to have.

Looks like Wheatley's site is down for some reason, he can be contacted via internet forums easily I think.

There seems to be an on going rivalry between lew at Diablo and Justin at black bear. Both are good and Efi live and diablo intune or trinity both have there pluses. But when it comes to the 5.3 these are the two to look at.

Make sure you really want power running boards before you get them.

They move too slow for me.

I just can't stand steps/running boards on any type of vehicle, but your seats get destroyed from sliding in and out if you don't have them. Not a chance I would pay $1200 for power steps though.

Have you tried the Amps? Mine are deployed literally before the door is completely open.
