I've seen the 5 round mags in Natchez Shooters catalog. Now whether they are in stock or not is a different story.

5 rd mags are usually just the same size as a 10rd mag with a bigger spring to consume the room.
When Remington released their R-15 series of rifles they came w a 5rd mag to meet whatever silly laws nationwide. Open that mag and cut the spring down and makes it a 10rd like normal.

you're in La. I'm pretty sure hunting with anything more than a 5 round mag is a no-no.
No restrictions in Louisiana unless something has changed recently. I always preferred a 20 or 10 round because they just get in the way.

I think you're right. I was working off long term memory.
Thanks for clarification.

Do not go below 18" although a 20" is better for that round. Overall 6.5 Grendel is probably the best overall performing round for the small AR, but you need a longer-ish barrel to really get the benefits.
Dang, just ordered a 12” and plan on going down to a 10” eventually….
It really depends on what you’re doing with the short barrels. 300 yards on in it fine to take Louisiana game.
They can stretch to 800 on plinking with the right setup.
The 6.5 grendel does not lose as much energy as other rounds in the ar15 platform. Especially when you use the lighter loads like 90 grains.
The 6 arc is a nice round, it’s only peeling out roughly 5% more at range than the grendel. The 6.5mm seems to be the sweet spot on efficient gas usage in shorter barrels, at least in the ar15.

What ever you decide, go ahead a spend the money for a silencer.
This is more important than the cartridge.
you can get subsonic 308 if you go the AR10 route.
