Wash cloths with any scent free you can.

Most importantly is to shower with scent free soap before you hunt. Wash your arse really good. That’s what they are smelling and nobody talks about it.

Even after doing that, if they catch you in the wind you are done.

Since I moved to south Texas I quit bow hunting because it is miserably hot and I'm getting old. So i don't do the anti scent deodorant or detergent.

I haven't worn camo to hunt in the past 9 years.

Also, the biggest buck on my wall I shot 21 years ago, and I shot it after working in my cousin's chicken houses for 2 hours. I smelt like sweat and chicken shite and I shot the buck behind a hot doe down wind of me at about 50 yards.

I’m with you. I say just stay in the deer woods as much as you can regardless of the wind and what you smell like and deer will die.

I could make a case for minimizing scent if you are a true trophy hunter.

Being in the right place at the right time is what it's about.

I've killed deer in tennis shoes, sitting on the ground in a bottom, making noise etc.

I've been within arms reach of deer walking to my stand. If you are meat hunting, as long as you're out there, and there's plenty of deer, you'll succeed. Young deer don't give a shite about the wind, your scent etc.

Trophy bucks do though. And you'll seldom kill them out of a box stand. Lots of scouting and knowing their patterns. I don't have time for that shite.

I haven't killed a deer in 2 years because I'm trying to get my kids their first one. Thanksgiving week they should each get a shot. If they miss, we try again later or next year.

My bottle of hunting laundry detergent that I bought 10 years ago is on pace to last another 5 decades, so I’m not too concerned with the cost.

Baking soda is pretty damn cheap.

Timing too. During they rut they chase and are likely to ignore you. I've shot at least 2 from a tree within a half hour of pissing out of the stand. Late season that probably matters a lot more.

I've simplified a lot in 40 years of Deer hunting.
I smoke in the stand , pee in the stand and eat salami and cheese crackers in the stand and do just fine.
2 bucks in the freezer already.
What I do Do is hunt the wind , Chair in a cypress Bottom , Ladder along a creek edge , Climber in Pine rows... don,t matter. I have over 15 stands and just play the wind..
EZ.
