Too cold though

Caught one (whiting) sea mullet. No pics.

Sat around for six hours catching up with fraternity brothers. Miller light; no craft brew. You have to do that if for six hours.

Tomato sandwiches during day.
Frogmore stew at night.

Will do tomorrow.

Anything else would be uncivilized.

Tried a couple weeks back I BSL Waveland area. Give it a few more weeks and it will be better temps.

I too enjoy that same soirée.

Whiting is as good to eat as anything that swims when eaten fresh. Too bad you didn't pick up a few more.

Yep. Let it clear up after the recent big rains and warm up a bit and it should be perfect timing. Love wade fishing.

Nice! I plan to give it a shot next month in Pensacola. What kind of setup did you use?

For whiting I use the small sabiki rigs and put a pea sized piece of shrimp on.

It’s not that I want to catch 6 at a time. It’s that the shrimp falls off so often that you don’t have to rebait

Use fish bites. You can still put a little shrimp too then fish bites and it will help keep it on better. But you can use straight fish bites.

The pink stuff is shrimp flavored fish bites and was the only thing on the hook. Got a huge croaker, bluefish, nice pompano, and a small whiting. Use the witting head to land the big red.

Yeah temps were cold enough to where I could barely handle being out in the water. I knew soon after is was just there for the rising sun and tide.

Like speckle said, I’m looking forward to the rising temps.

Yea this last trip was winter and the water was too cold...sand was too LOL. I’m going at the end of April and the temps should be money.

Surf fishing is my happy place. Love all types of fishing but the surf with the kids and family around is tops.

Cape san blas. Don't tell anyone the place exists please.

We also caught I think it was 22 or 23 inch pompano the next day. Potential state record, I went up to the house to get my phone and scale and my brother gave it to an old lady on the beach for dinner. He had no clue it was that close to the record.

Oh well, we made that old ladies day. She was trying to surf fish because her and her son used to. Her son passed away from cancer and her other son was trying to help her and literally had a paracord leader tied on.

We gave her all our catch that day and rerigged her completely. So she had dinner and as we were leaving she caught an 18 inch speck.

For most of Louisiana the state of Florida stops somewhere around San Destin or Seaside.

I agree with you though. That area is really pleasant and fish to be had.

Though not targeted much in LA you can do well on pompano. Buddy does well in the winter time.
