Dad's buying a boat

Alright as the title says my dad informed me he wants to buy a boat (this week probably) and is leaning heavily towards buying a Bass Tracker Pro Guide V-16 at BassPro... I told him that you all always shite on buying boats from there so I've come here to get advice. Both on the choice of boat and the place of purchase.
One thing I know is he definitely likes the V hull because our previous flat bass boat could only do Pontchartrain on a really flat day.
ETA: most of the time's he used the previous boat was around the spillway and some lakes but has wanted to venture more into GI etc.

If he wants a mass production aluminum boat, check out the Lowe bay boat. Cabelas sells Lowe boats and can get it.

If you fish there or place like it,
I would invest in at least a 22' fiberglass bayboat. Ex:Skeeter,Pathfinder,Mako,Bluewave,Etc.

We bought a boat recently. Did research on Tracker. Apparently they have a problem with the welds cracking. And they aren't that cheap. They have better aluminum boats for th price.

There is a thread on aluminum boats on the OB culture thread that's pinned at the top.

If this is true, look elsewhere. My brother had a 2001 nitro 901 back in the day that had some stringers break. The boat had lifetime warranty on the hull and they replaced it but it took tracker marine around 6 months to have him back on the water.

Tracker makes crap. That's all I know. I've had one.

I would look at Xpress if tin is a must, I would also look at a Saltwater Model Xpress since it sounds like the time between fresh and salt water will be split...and he is wanting to fish some pretty big open water areas.

I like the Lowe deep v setups. Just wish they were a few feet longer.

I have an xpress 17' bass boat with the hyper lift hull, has some V to it, i can get out to last island in 2'ers. Now, its not ideal but its all i've got (student loans ). If i was in a position to buy a used bay boat, i'd sell you my bass boat. It does great for marsh and fresh water fishing.
Id tell your dad to look into a fiberglass 18'-22' if he wants to go out in GI...you can still get a lot of places inshore too
