I went last June and can confirm it went to shite. Rooms were filthy and smelled horrible and the pool looks run down.

I went 2 years ago, stayed in the hotel on site, and it was ROUGH back then. So, I can only imagine what it looks like now

Sam Rayburn. Drive a little farther and enjoy the nice roads. Went yesterday blind having never fished the lake and caught two limits. Plenty of places to stay.

That place is a money pit with the golf course attached. Does the state run or management company?
Sounds like it's being run like the DMV, poorly.

Sabine River Authority contracts it out to a group out of Dallas. I believe they are middle easterners if you know what I mean. Place has brought everything around it down. Most of the roads in Sabine parish are crap and there's nothing for the wife to do. Plus the lakes over two foot low. Go to Rayburn.

It's had it's swings... it was incredible for several years then dropped off and came back shortly, but unfortunately it's been crap for quite a while, I'm thinking 6 or 7 years... Used to go for the pulp and paper tournament every year and really enjoyed it, but it's been quite sometime since it was worth the trip.
