My mom is up in age and wants to go crabbing with my kids. Where would y’all advise for catching a few close to Hammond/Slidell in the next week or so? Nothing specific.
TIA
TIA

Can't say where to go, but my advice would be to get them out there either early in the a.m. or late in the evening.
These 90+ degree temperatures and high humidity can take a toll on older folks if they are not acclimated to being outside in it.
ETA: I've been getting out to the Miss. River about every other week lately for some catfishing and head out to be fishing just after daybreak and stay out until about 10 or so. Where I fish on the east bank finds me with the sun behind me and the willow trees shade me until I'm ready to leave, so it's not all that bad.

Go down Lake rd in lacombe no shade but it’s usually pretty good

Can you use the round traps off of the bank? Seems like you need vertical for them to work well.

Thank y’all that’s not a bad ride from us.
My mom grew up crabbing and hasn’t done it in 50+ years. We are gonna try to change that. Hope she has a good time.

She’ll probably teach you a thing or two.
Have fun and enjoy the time your spending with her.

I’ve seen people set up a portable canopy along a bank.

Last question....i live in Ms. If I’m crabbing with a string off the bank do I need a saltwater fishing license? I didn’t see anything that answered that for NR. I’m assuming and want to make sure I’m legal.

Lake road in Lacombe. Main st (hwy 1077) in madisonville (used to have a big boat storage there, they still have the piers but no shade).
