Red Eye Shad The best reaction bite bait ever made. I fish it from 1' to 6' / If you can cast and have game you can work it thru timber and grass.

Those one dollar spinner baits at wal mart. Chartreuse color.
I buy em 10 at a time and will catch fish until they’re bent and dull. Toss it and grab another

Pumpkin or watermelon curly tail worm or salamander. Texas rig.

This topic supports a theory of mine, and that is that a lot of stuff works. We have some luck with something, we fish it more often, so we catch more fish on it, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I don't personally fish crankbaits/spinners unless nothing else is working. I like the challenge of plastics; I really enjoy the feel of them picking it up and moving with it, and timing the hook set.

When fishing from a boat I always have:
War eagle heavy finesse jig 3/8 oz with rage craw trailer
3/8 oz Picasso tungsten knocker bladed jig in molting craw
black and blue swim jig with a blue rage swimmer
Watermelon Candy Zoom Lizard texas rigged
6th sense Crush Square bill in craw, shad, or black/blue
and either a drop shot or shaky head with SpotSticker drop shot worm in green pumpkin
Bank fishing ponds I have two rods in my truck:
Spinning on 6'9" medium/moderate with a Rapala ultra light Rippin Rap or shaky head and finesse worm
Baitcast 7'0" medium/heavy with 1/4 or 3/8 oz jig and either rage swimmer or rage craw trailer

Senko of any kind. The Smithwick Rattling Rogue is my favorite lure of all time. Can catch fish with it in so many ways. Black and red and gold best color combo.

What kind of water, weather/temp, cover makes you throw the crankbait? Never really fished one before but want to try.

It changes.
Three years ago it was a Lake Fork Tackle Hyper Worm in Watermelon Red.
Last year it was a Zoom Ultravibe Speedworm in a similar color.
This year I'm throwing Senkos/Ochos depending on the Plano box I grab them from.
And every year I can catch fish on a Berkley Blue Fleck Powerworm.
Chunking a spinnerbait would bore me to death.
I like Chatterbaits when they work.

If I could only fish with one lure for the rest of my life it would probably be a zoom super fluke. At the end of the day it does a great job of mimicking a food source for every bass on the planet, a baitfish.
More bass have been caught on a plastic worm, but it's more fun to me to watch the fish take the lure
