Coming to a tower near you.

Bought this house about 7 years ago. Have a tower here beside me, which I have ignored for 6 years. Then I bring out my old hammock, the one I haven't used in years. Well the best shade was in a corner of the lot facing the huge tower. While relaxing I found out the tower was full of life. It seems to be a universal resting place for wandering Vultures and crows. I watch them jockeying in and their landing positions. And what a view those guys have. So I'm crazy for watching a tower, but when you have Stage 4 cancer, what else can I do. If you have tower nearby, check it out. They'll be life. Send me some responses as to what's going on in your world. Would like to hear from a few of you guys taking Chemo therapy. It's a strange world to know it's the end. Thanks..that's all.

Similar to how certain animals don’t look up.
You never know about the action going on up there.
Like a city.
Stay happy.

I am not in your position but I often wonder what it is like. I am glad to see you are at peace and the world has slowed down enough for you to enjoy the little things it has to offer.

prayers sent brother ... my 79 yr old dad survived throat cancer but the chemo and radiation destroyed his teeth, throat, esophagus, and ability to eat and drink. He's miserable but has come to the realization of living 1 day at a time and making the best of it. My daughter just had a little girl so now he's a great grandpaw and it makes him happy

Hey ole baw, sorry to hear that. Look down too. Last week while relaxing on my porch swing I noticed a little trail of the tiniest ants. Little bitty specks. I started studying them, they had a long trail from my porch across my patio concrete and onto the grass. Two directions of travel, every single one of them going in opposite directions had meet and greats. In their world it was like head on collisons.
It sort of put me in a trance just picking out one ant and watching him bump into his padnuhs a couple hundred times. I had sweat dripping off my fingers so I decided to draw an imaginary line across their path. The first few went around it. Then there was sort of a bottleneck, but one brave soul crossed the line and then the floodgates opened and it looked like a crosswalk in Bangkok.

76 years old. Had a great life but everything must end. Have a house, new car, and truck all paid off. I Was luckier than many others. Instead of feelng down, I think of the young soldiers who died on the battlefields throughout history, laying in a cold field crying for his mom. I have a wife waiting on me as if I was Royalty. Am truly a lucky man. I have found my peace.

God bless you and your family, hope I can be this brave when my time comes...

Great story. Sometimes the med MJ helps the story along. Watching vultures sometimes and other times watching my kale and greens patch grow. Never a dull moment. And the daily reactions with a wife of 46 years.

Ewill, took my 13 year old son to Buras for a teal hunt with as buddy that guides down there. We ended up with 18. My son is pretty handy with a shotgun. We hunt like 3 guys in the boat, letting him take the first shot but big boy hunting. Bad thing is every bird is 3 shots no matter what. Told him hes going to start buying his own shells!! On top of that he's a world class bird claimer! He takes credit for everything that hits the water. So we told him we would each clean the birds we shot. We caught a mess of fish on the way back. Reds, drum & a few sheephead. It's never lost on me how much I enjoy being with my kids. We talk about the stages of life. Where they are in it, where I am, and where their grandparents are. The circle of life marches on, make the best of the time we all have left.
If you haven't, think about recording a short message to people that you love. Still play a voicemail from my grandfather every year.

I read your post earlier today. Did not know what to say. I will just relate my experience. In December2020 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to my brain. I was told I had 4 months max to live. A brain surgeon heard this and told me he could remove the tumor and his associate could do the colon surgery. I figured, why not? Underwent both. Brain tumor left my left side basically paralyzed. I began chemo and started physical therapy. In Sept I was walking with a walker and driving again. I Dove and Teal hunted in September. In 2022 I killed a buck and bird hunted thanks to great friends who were there for me. I shot 11 doves one afternoon last week. The chemo was hell, I felt like terrible but I endured it. I learned in the last couple of years what is important. God most importantly and the love of your family and friends are what help the most. I am still doing treatments and will continue for the rest of my days. Oncologist told me this week that things are great and only God knows the future. I hope you are this lucky, I will be 70 in December, God willing. Enjoy the good days and get through the hard days. Every sunrise is a miracle.

Man… when my time comes, I hope I have this same outlook. I prayed for you.

Great success story and I can imagine the pain and emotions you went through. It took great courage to make that first decision. My cancer is in throat, bones, lungs, lower spine and right pelvic. Neck and throat are better and seems to be working. Wife has more confidence than me, but I'll trudge along. Life is different now and yes, I do enjoy lying in my hammock when the weather is perfect. Counting the hours til the game tomorrow at 6:00 pm. Wife will surprise me tomorrow with something good to eat. Life is good.

I guess if I was a bird I'd probably want to land in a tall arse tower instead of simple tree.
Best wishes on your journey that many of us will be on someday too.

Thanks Turnblade for your input. It's a journey I wasn't planing on taking. And disregard my fat fingered downvote. Haven't mastered the art of reversing a downvote yet. My bad.

Wish more folks in the late stages of life had your attitude. Reminds me of this poem:
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
~ Chief Tecumseh
