Caught 30 on Saturday with 2 people....be careful out there if you’re going to the islands. Tons of the island has disappeared and new giant sandbars in other places.

This sounds like 80% of my fishing trips anywhere

Do u mean in general since last year, or just since this storm?

I was there 3 weeks ago, just curious

Figured there would be some changes, hoping not too severe

Fished Saturday and caught 60. Had to weed through a lot of small ones but had steady action all day. Ended up finding some nice 18” trout in the bay on one stop.

I found clean water in Pelto and wailed on them on one small platform inside wine island. Lots of birds diving in several spots with shrimp leaping out of the water. We caught trout on every cast under the birds but they were all 11”. I’ve been owning a camp and fishing in Cocodrie for 25 years and I have never caught as many undersized trout as I have this year. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve quit fishing live bait or something ecological. My wife could not buy a trout with live croakers last Saturday and they are usually the ticket to bigger trout this time of the year.

Went out Sunday am to find wind 3 times what the camp anemometer said. Water was dirty. lots of small specks and whites. Only had 5 keepers before storms blew us off.

We have caught b/w 100 and 200 trout in 3 trips w 2 or 3 fishermen.

Haven't boxed more than 50.

Trout really are everywhere, numbers are not a concern right now, only size, and likely due to the freeze in '17 that killed so many in the marsh. I have a radar saved on my phone from Nov '17 showing it snowing over the island, and we had 4 below freezing episodes, with one 4 straight days that year.

That's the biggest reason I think changing limits is unnecessary. It's called Mother Nature.

Agreed, not to mention the lack of brown shrimp inshore this year limiting the trout forage. Low salinity water/and late cold fronts are no good for brown shrimp production and probably played some part in it.

Since the storm, the camp on trinity island is completely gone except for the pilings and there are now several cut throughs in the island.

Could be some good in that

I always enjoyed New Pass before it closed

Started fishing out there when I was 9. The Horseshoe was actually a horseshoe sticking out of the water on low tide 3-4 feet.

We camped a lot at the old rodeo dock in Trinity Bayou that now sits in the surf.

Anybody checked to see if the tiny remnant of Brush Island is still there?

Yes

And they were arranged in the shape of a horseshoe, with a cove in the middle

We would pull up, throw anchor, get out and fish from the shells on the inside and out
