Care to discuss the difference in a cicada and rattle snake sound?

"ch-ch-ch" noise like sprinklers and cicada sounds the same, no?

Some make an almost constant sound, while others have an up and down "tune".

I think I have heard two different ones. But they sound the same at night as they do the day time. Are they suppose to be noisy in the daytime?

Great shots.

A few years ago we had a 13 year emergence in my little town. It was nuts. Very cool at first and kind of maddening by the time it was over.

Early on one of our cats was staring at the ground. A few minutes later a Cicada started to emerge and the cat ate it. People may think that they have tough lives but just imagine living for 13 years under ground. And then being eaten by a cat just as freedom is in sight.

I know, old post, but my youngin found some today. She had em lined up with the rest of her toys once we came inside. She stepped on one and lost her shite
