To me, this is a try at what Anthony Bourdain was doing. I like Gordon, but hated the yelling bullshite of his other shows. I can actually watch a full episode of this. And it's pretty good. Not saying he has filled the shoes of Anthony, but it's a good show and maybe Gordon can grow into it a bit.

I watched it. He fished with 2 different people and caught 1 fish. Obviously poor choice . The guy that cooked the crawfish put half of a large container of cayenne pepper in about 20 pounds of crawfish. Gordon said his mouth was on fire. What a surprise. Gordon went looking for edibles in the swamp. I thought it was a very poor representation of what our state offers.

Agreed. The whole fishing part was awful, how does he go out with 2 "guides" and catch only 1 fish? I liked watching him try to shoot the nutria and catch the frogs though.

it was cringeworthy

Awful. And his play doh roux was a great way to top it off.

Honestly, the "yelling bs" is played up for the US version of his shows. He's not half so loud or vitriolic really, he just has zero tolerance for people who oughta know better and whose mistakes could get people killed or sick. With the kid's cooling show he mentors/judges on, he's incredibly kind and gentle.

It was very disappointing. The only reason I posted it here was because they were out fishing at the start of it, and I was hoping it was with good guides that people here knew of. When the crawfishing was done with an Asian couple, I figured I should have put it on the Movie/TV of Food board. Nothing against Asians, but why not a Cajun?

The show's set up folks should have read this board before choosing who he'd fish with.

I definitely thought it was odd not catching any fish. Too bad he didn’t get hooked up with someone like Capt. Charlie.

Those tiny frogs they were caching was a little embarrassing though.

I get our food is a bit unique, but to call it bizarre feels like a slap in the face.

The rest of the show didn’t have too many minority cultures in it - I think the Asian family was put in to appease those who may complain

New Orleans is not usually represented in the way that Chef Ramsey did it - which is actually one of the reasons I liked the show.
