Out of Venice or Grand Isle, what do y’all recommend?

Neither of those species are very difficult to catch. You should have decent luck with just about anyone.

Whoever does a full day for the cheapest. Theres a guy running a big aluminum cat out of lakeside that comes in with a boatload of shite daily, not sure who he is but I'd go with him for a one day meat hunt

Have my captains license, have never tried catching either one of these fish but most insist its easy. Lets go give it a shot, we'll figure it out.

Red snapper is easier than AJs only because the AJs can be difficult to get out of the rigs (resulting in breakoffs). Red snapper, especially if you're good with catching ones in the 16-20" range, are everywhere.

It's a pain in the arse to try to catch anything else around the rigs because of all the damn snappers

Put the rod in the holder and when it drops, use the motors to haul them out. Works on reef donkeys and big grouper. Live hardtail on a dropper off a 2-3# cannonball weight. You’re on your own after that.

The endangered snapper aren’t a challenge if you can keep them from being eaten by the equally endangered sharks or the protected dolphin.

If any of you guys need an experienced offshore fisherman/deckhand/fish cleaner onboard, I’m happy to pitch in for fuel or a charter. Most of my crew have turned into pansies and don’t want to get their brains beat out snapper fishing out of my 20’ boat.

Hardtails have been harder to catch than AJ's lately.

Too early for them? I know you usually run across big schools of them in the summer running out

Heading out next weekend with a livewell full of mullets. Both AJ's and big snapper love them.
