but I'm ok w/ a 7 or 8 round mag.

It's easy to get wrapped around the axle on mag size. It's not a statistic that's tracked, but the vast majority of self defense shootings that I see (video, news, whatever) involve 1-4 shots. It seems (again, it's not tracked so I'm just going with what I've seen) most cop shootings tend to be in that range too. I've never personally read about a self defense shooting that involved a reload or a spare mag.

I would like to see some statistics on that 1-4 shots statement. Even then, I would still live by "better to have and not need than not have when needed". These days with the subcompacts increased mag capacity why would you not want as many as you can comfortably carry? Not saying you need to have an extendo clip 33 rounder, but it's very easy to conceal 13-16 round subcompact guns.

As somebody said earlier, capacity is king.

I carry a g26.

Not saying it's the best, although I don't have a problem with it, but still manageable if you are considering a double stack.

Yeah I went with the Performance Center but stuck with the 3" barrel. Total BS that you gotta get the 4" barrel to get it optics ready.

Ruger Max 9. Less than 1" thick, but has a 12 round mag.

Nothing wrong with capacity, but is it more important than having a lighter smaller more comfortable pistol? It makes perfect sense that 1-4 shots is sufficient. Just pulling any gun will scare off most bad guys.

I guess it’s possible to find yourself in a firefight with multiple attackers...I guess.

Like I said, they're not officially tracked to my knowledge. Among people who study such things the "3 to 5" rule of thumb is popular. Most self defense shootings happen between 3 to 5 yards, involve 3 to 5 shots and last 3 to 5 seconds.

You would, but small increases in dimensions make a big difference carrying. The Shield Plus, for instance, isn't as thin as a Shield, it's about halfway between a Shield and a regular M&P. There's a huge difference between carrying a regular M&P and a Shield, even though by my calipers the width difference is only .183 inches,

And my remarks were aimed more at people who already have a compact that they were perfectly happy with until someone came out with one that gave them 4-5 more rounds that will almost certainly never be fired. If you didn't feel outgunned with 8 rounds before you shouldn't now just because your buddy bought a Hellcat. I have plenty of money for toys and I'm getting a Shield Plus just because, but for some people $500 is a purchase they have to think about.

That person was wrong; shot placement is king.

Between the 938 and the Micro 9 I'd go with the 938.

I'm looking at the 938 for an ankle holster carry. It looks small enough not to print. My Shield is too large for ankle carry
