Baking soda will neutralize the sulfuric, just make sure you don't add it straight to the battery or it could go everywhere.

I'm guessing that's a real word.

Duct tape actually sounds like a good idea

You'll be fine. If you're scared, try the first one by putting the beer can inside the tin can. Tin melts at a much lower temp.

Try mom & pop tire shops for wheel weights or a scrap yard

The bigger ones often send them back to HQ to recycle

I'd be willing to empty the cans/bottles for you if you dropped them off.

It would definitely be heavy, but I could cap off top, cut off bottom and only fill halfway

Looks legit, but the point of what I'm doing is to keep cost at minimum.

-I get a buzz using beer cans
-lead is free
-Propane is cheap enough for how much I need

OP, I have some 3lb molds if you are interested in it. Egg shape. Also have a set of 6oz,8 and 1 lb mold. Also, about a 5 gallon bucket full of wheel weights. Make an offer.

Oh, a cast pot too!

3lb is too light, but I appreciate the offer.

I may be interested in the lead though

Get a threaded nipple, screw one cap on, pour lead, screw other cap on. Seems like it would work

Suggest instead that you cast it in this mold:
