I have a 6 foot privacy fence that we built in my back yard 4 years ago.

We've had minor issues with carpenter bees burrowing into 4x4s around our patio and stuff, but nothing more than minor inconvenience. Set a few traps and it appears to have taken care of it.

However, last time I walked the fenceline I noticed they have honeycombed the shite out of two fenceposts and started on a third - full tunnels with entry and exit holes, running 10-14".

Is there a quick, economical way to stop this in its tracks? How much of a PITA would it be to replace those posts if they rot out/lose support?

Hate these bastards.

Suspend SC spray in holes and fence.
Come back 1 month later same thing
Probably do that until fall as the Eggs for bees are in the holes then cover holes early winter late fall.

Spray Taurus SC. Once. That’s it. Will last at least 6-8 months.

If you’re spraying with a hand pump, be sure to get everything nice and wet. It doesn’t have to be dripping, but you’ll need good coverage.

Carpenter bees really don’t do that much damage and are good pollinators. I have stopped killing them.

Uh, my front porch railings would beg to differ. Some pretty significant damage incurred until I started treating with insecticidal dust.

The bees don't do all the damage. The woodpeckers trying to get to the bees buried in the wood do the damage.

Badminton rackets work great on carpenter bees

Uhhh no, it’s the bees. Built brand new awning this spring at a rural camp that had bees. Went back two weeks later and it was full of holes, each with a bee working on making that hole bigger, and even a number of spots where they were just starting a new hole. Frick those critters. Used a key to crush them in each hole but there were plenty more flying around, will be back with a vengeance on them soon
