Carpenter Bee Problem

I was wondering how and what you all use to get rid of carpenter bees. I have found poison and other preventatives online, but was wondering if there is a product you recommend over another. I use Talstar right now but I know this does nothing for carpenter bees so is there anything I can replace it with, so I don't have to use two different products.

Old badminton or tennis racket is kinda fun.

Dealing with this as well. Yesterday I purchase a can from ace that stated it kills carpenter bees, about $5 bucks. I will probably give it a try today. I also read simply spraying the hole they formed will not kill the larve as they build multiple walls between eggs and food. It recommended sticking flexible wire, I will use heavy duty weed eater string to punch threw walls before spraying.

I have Thompson Contender pistol in .410 that is blast to use on carpenter bees, but that's at the camp.

Pour in gas, apply fire.

only takes a few minutes to make traps, or you can just buy them for like $12-$15 each
see here how easy they are to make LINK
oh, and tennis or badmitten rackets do work great for getting your frustrations out, even if they go through the hole it pulls their wings off so they still cant bother you any more after

The carpenter bee traps are legit. They are easy to find around here at flea markets or craft shows. That and a $2 racketball racket make for good times on the back deck.

Haha fond memories of drinking beer and smoking em with those hollow plastic bats. They make such a funny sound. After you take enough down their buddies get the hint and move on to the next house, lol

Make or buy the wood/mason jar trap and then knock one down to put into trap. Others will follow.

Bayer Suspend SC
Spray in holes and around wood every month from now until the fall.
Leave holes open until fall to make sure the eggs do not hatch new bees.
Then cover holes after the fall and paint.

Spray pine sol on the wood areas. Garden sprayer. Repeat every week or so.
They hate the shite. It dont kill em, they just smell it and keep moving. Its quick and easy.
They leave, no holes drilled.

my kids have a blast with tennis racquets and bats. Added benefit is when the chickens see the kids swinging, they come running to clean-up the aftermath.
I've filled holes with expanding foam and that seems to reduce the numbers.

I can vouch for the PineSol trick. It doesn't kill bees but it will make them evacuate the area and not return for about a week. You have to give the wood a good soaking, though, and reapply every week.

I just stick spray nozzle in the hole and soak it with the diesel for about 5 seconds, then spray more on the boards they are boring into. They leave and never come back.

A case of beer and some spray adhesive. Makes for a fun and entertaining afternoon

Works for me > tie a paper shopping bag stuffed with newspaper or plastic shopping bags to the joists in the area. They think it’s hornets.
