Projected cost?
This is going to be the Lynchpin of the whole endeavor. If the price point falls in with the Glocks and XD crowd....look out.
The RRA website does not give price quotes yet. This leads me to believe that it will not be a "Bargain" 1911. Common sense tells me that it has to come in below the Ruger SR1911 or they are missing their market.

i would think it would have to come in under their regular 1911 prices.

Because polymer guns are cheap? Someone forgot to tell HK because my P2000 was way more than that SR1911.

Cheaper than Steel? Yes.
Your HK is "Top of the Line" for a Polymer pistol. HK is the "Elite" brand for polymers...
Now, take your "Elite" Polymer price point and compare it to an "Elite" 1911...

I'd think it comes down to the number of parts and the tolerances the manufacturer chooses to set for them...then marketing.
That said, I bought a compact duty weapon and a relatively cheap HK. HK makes pistols that rival the most expensive 1911s without a shiny part on them...polymer doesn't make a damn difference in the price.

Well holy shite, people pay $4k for a 1911...Guess I was wrong.

So,
Where do you think the price point for the RRA 1911 will fall?
I stand behind the belief that a person that wants a 1911 priced in the 1K range will not consider a Polymer 1911. There are too many options on the table at the 1K mark.
Why make a 1911 in polymer if not to compete for the absurd market share of the 500-625 range of polymer pistols out there?
Obligatory Insult: And your Mark 23 HK is closer to holding a brick than a Glock ever could be...

Glad to see your edit - which shows you did some research.

My FIL paid a lot more for a WC 1911. It is heads and shoulders above any HK I have ever shot. Granted, it cost 3-4x more too.

Polymer is not why there's an absurd market for 500-650 pistols, it's because people are willing to buy subcompacts like there's no tomorrow. I don't understand it, but the majority of sales in that range are pocket pistols (I just made that up). The inherently inaccurate barrel length makes them not GAF about the component tolerances, or durable materials, as much (I made that up as well).

It might have come off as being a prick but its not my money by any means. I just had the pleasure of shooting it.
Actually, its not the tactical supergrade. Its the classic supergrade. This is the exact pistol but his is .45 and not 9mm.

My bad. I wasn't referring to you. I was agreeing with your
assessment of the above-listed "theories".

an unreliable gun that looks and feels cheap? No thanks.

Its also very easy to see how your comment would apply to a 5k 1911 too.
If the OB wants to get together and buy one as a group, Ill keep it safe.

I came I here and immediately started scrolling for KingRanch's response................2 pages in and SOB hasn't made it into a 1911 thread.
