buying first AR in .308

I have been stacking up Cabelas points, so purchase must come from Cabelas.
I want .308 caliber
Cabela's has
DPMS GII Recon , S&W M&P 10, and Windham Weaponry SRC-308
Talk to me about these models, or any other that I may be overlooking (in the 1500 price range).
I do not want to build one.

Thats the one I recommend in this range. My friend has a Colt 901 but its very, very finicky with different types of ammo. DPMS used to be very good, but reviews vary with the newer weapons in the last few years. Daniel Defense has a model that Nutnfancy reviewed and it jammed with nearly every brand of ammo but high dollar premium stuff.

I was looking at the Galil in 308, but its only a 16" barrel. Many AR-10 platforms are finicky about ammo, but the M&P 10 seems to chew up whatever you load it with. The only issues I have watched on Nutns video was the gas settings with a can, seems like you need an adjustable gas block if you want to run suppressed. Very, very accurate shooter and much lighter than most AR-10 platforms available, at a much more affordable price.

They have a Seekins Precision gun. I would honestly buy that. They build really good guns and are the base(receivers) for a GAP10.

thinking like a 3x9? basic, but quality and clear. nothing long range tactical. Will be used for hog/deer hunting, and range shooting mostly. Of course will come in handy for any apocalypse, and want one now before the government might say I cannot get one.

Gotcha, Cabelas had that sale a couple months back on the Viper HS for $400 off, I couldn't pass it up, it'll be going on mine
