Bought 2 pistols there a month ago. Approved in less than 15 minutes.
You must have something on your record

In any case, if that person got a cc permit, they would no longer have that wait?

Flash that cc permit like I'm secret service lol. Yes walk in and walk out like a boss. Trust me though waiting for the CC is long enough. You should certainly have one. It's your right!

Not sure if someone else brought this up, but the government shutdown could have affected this as well.

I think this is only if you have the 5yr permit as well - at least when I got mine in 2015 that is what we reviewed in class.

You can also apply for a personal NCIS ID number online, that is supposed to stop the delays, but the CC permit is probably best.
I use to always get delayed, but not anymore, since I got my CC permit.

NCIS background checks for FFL purchases are done by contracted call centers, not federal government employees. The call centers have limited access to NCIS databases. They enter your name in the system if it returns no hit you Pass. If your name is returned with a record on the initial search the background check request is then transferred to a actual NCIS examiner in Clarksburg, West Virginia. The NCIS examiner has access to the actual database record information, and can determine if the records that were found with you name are yours or someone else with the same or similar name.

I've never had to wait. Of course I don't buy firearms from a company that wont even let you feel the trigger before you buy it.

Like going to buy a car and having the salesman say "No sorry you, can't let you test drive it. You'll just have to buy it and see if you like it. "

That’s a pretty shallow thought

I’ve shot the gun I bought over 2 dozen times before I decided to buy it.

Stop being a jackass just because you don’t like academy.

you've never bought a pair of shoes online? A Shirt? A pair of pants? A television that you haven't seen that particular screen in person yet? I mean, if i like car A, i don't have to necessarily drive that car at the point of purchase if i know it meets my requirements. There are other ways to review and feel guns aside from a point and means of purchase.

No, but clothing and TV's are not quite as important as a firearm, that you potentially would use to defend yourself.

I guess I'm more consciousness about what I spend my money on. I don't buy thing that I consider of great importance without personally handling them.

I mean there are huge difference in the triggers of various firearms that all look very similar in the surface. Difference to the point that I would not carry that firearm for self defense purposes, of consider it reliable for competitive shooting.

And call me a skeptic, but while I read reviews of products I buy I rarely if ever make a decision based heavily on someone else's opinion of what I am looking at. But i appreciate the review process and often leave reviews myself, with the disclaimer "Opinions vary so see for yourself and draw your own conclusions."

I always buy at a local place. The one I bought last year, I just handed him my CC card and paid. Selection was miles better than a big box store that is only going to carry a few big names. Prices were comparable. Better on some, worse on others. But the service is hands down better. The only place I might buy one other than a local store is if WalMart is running some deals.
