I had to post. Sorry.
When Downshift posted, "I wish I knew how to argue..." you were the first person to pop into my head.
This ought to be fun for a while.

Meh, i have to bring the boat to the brake shop. When I get the estimate, I'm sure I'll want to kill puppies, not talk about breeding them.
Posted on 4/3/12 at 1:01 pm to Slickback
I thought the same thing Slick

I wish I knew how to argue so I coulda blew his shite away.
Eta: post one was about how there is a thread on the OB about people encouraging someone to stud his dog out. Stupidity is everywhere.
Boy, I struck a nerve huh? How did I go in circles. I stuck with my point from the get go.

Was he saying that it's dumb to breed your dog?
Breeding is supposed to better the breed. The good ole eye test is not sufficent.

Or that it's dumb to make money off of breeding your dog?
If done correctly, you can't make money
quote:
I did see him say that looking at the parents being good workers isn't a good way to make sure the puppies will be good workers. Really? REALLY?
Yes really. Eyeball tests are good in football and other sports, but that is about it. If you can't understand science, sorry.

I'm sure he's right, people have been doing advanced genetic testing and shite to breed dogs to do what they want since the cavemen domesticated wolves.
Oh, well since they haven't been doing it, that makes it right, huh?

Yea you did. Your first post was implying that the people who were posting about studing a dog out on the ob are stupid. And then you said if you didn't do research you are stupid. An then you said if you're making money on it you're stupid.

I'm not that great at it either. I was trying though.
It's not about being good at arguing, it is about knowledge of the subject. Sorry I have more than you.

How are these two any different?

They are all related to each other. My stance from the get go is this:
If you are trying to make money off of dog breeding, you are doing more harm than good. If you do not get testing done, you are not helping the breed. All of the above are pretty selfish and stupid
ETA: Show me my circling.

So breeding for being better at a job is not bettering the breed? Who decides what is better?
Posted on 4/3/12 at 1:17 pm to DownshiftAndFloorIt
Also, I started a Jamey Johnson thread on the MB.

We must first look at the physical makeup of the dog. It doesn't matter if your dog can fetch a duck from 3 miles away. If he has bad hips, bad eyes, prone to cancer, retrieving is irrelevant. That is not bettering the breed.
Once all that is out of the way, you move on to training. If they are tested healthy offspring and they can be trained, you are on to something. It is not that hard to understand.

I never claimed to be in the know about breeding. But to call someone stupid for asking a question makes you an a-hole, that I do have knowledge on. Breeding two hunting dogs is not the same as trashy fricks breeding pits recklessly and you know that.
