(I fully expect this to turn into a shite show, but hopefully it can have some no BS responses)

So, to put it this way. If you had to boil one sack of crawfish, how would you do it?

Boil water( most people fill 80qt pot half full or so)

Add powder seasoning plus 1 small bottle liquid crab boil.

Add crawfish

Bring back to boil

After it comes to boil count three minutes and shut off heat (if your burner sucks and can’t get it back up to temp you need to move on after 10-12 min. Start sampling for spice and tenderness after another 15 min.

When you think they are good, dump out

That’s as simple as you can make it

Exactly what purple spoon said except let me add a couple things. I add my potatoes to the heating up water. This starts getting them cooking ( small /med red potatoes, not tiny ones). Once water is almost boiling take potatoes out and add seasoning ( 1 lg bag powder and once small liquid). I like to let the seasoning lightly boil for about 10 min so it dissolves good. Crawfish in basket, put potatoes on top of them plus sausage if u want that. Turn up fire and put in crawfish. After about 5 min regardless if boiling or not turn off fire. Remove lid, add corn and mushrooms pushing them under the crawfish. Then pick up again with his directions.

I do the same as purple mentioned except I add an extra half bag of seasoning vs liquid.

I’ve done liquid to and they turn out just fine.

A rule of thumb I’ve always used is soak until they sink but frequent testing really is the best method

ETA:I did see a rocket pot in action other and it was impressive. Boiled cold water in 10 min and brought back boil within 2. Still not sure I’d pay 500+ for a crawfish pot though.

I've posted this before and it's my go-to. Never any complaints. 2nd batch is usually spicier.

Per sack of crawfish:

1 6pack of beer
1 sacksize seasoning (I prefer Louisiana brand over Zatarain's)
1 8-12 oz bottle of liquid boil
1 box salt
6 yellow onions
6 lemons
2# sausage
6 corn (1/2 cob size - frozen)
2 pints mushrooms
3# small red potatoes

Drink at least one beer gathering up all the stuff. Open beer #2, put potatoes, onions (cut in half), lemons (halved and squeezed), seasoning, liquid boil, sausage and ¼-1/2 box of salt in water and bring to boil. Open beer #3, depending on size of potatoes, boil for about 3-8 min to start potatoes cooking, Open beer #4, put in crawfish. As soon as water begins to boil again (just barely) shut off gas (Open beer #5) and let soak. Soak for total of about 20-25 min. About 10-15 min prior to eating, open beer #6 and put in corn and mushrooms. (sooner if you want corn and mushrooms to be really spicy). Take it out when the crawfish reach your desired flavor.

If you're boiling more than one sack, on the second time around don’t put any more salt and add about ½ - ¾ of sack seasoning – all other things remain the same, increase beer consumption by 2-4 beers

If you boil three sacks, on third sack dump water and start with clean water all over again, forget beer and start on whiskey.

Don’t forget squeeze butter for potatoes and corn

HO LEE CHIT!

Why in God’s name would you dump 4 lbs of salt in with 5lbs of shrimp? Are you cooking in a bath tub?

Pro-Boil, lemons and a little Cayenne is perfect.
