Young 24 bayboat.

Expensive but a great boat. Handles rough water like no other bayboat. You will fish more in the boat rather than on top of it. Great for kids. Could possibly take it out in deeper waters on calm days.

Young

I'm looking to buy this one in a couple of years. Buying used is ok. I would suggest an outboard of 300 or above because it is a big boat.

Could take a look at the 20 foot models too.

FWIW, there is a really good looking 24ft Skeeter for sale in Arabi/Chalmette on the south side of Judge Perez. I wanna say it had a 300 Yammy on it. It is about 1/4 mile east of that little Shell station

I have a Pathfinder 22 TE. Pulls great, rides great, fishes great. I love the rod box design, its what sold me. Keeps clutter to a min and my buddies aren't backlashing and beating up rods stored in the middle. Its my second Pathfinder and when the time comes, I'll get a third.

I have a Skeeter ZX2250 bay boat and love it. As far as fiberglass vs aluminum.....what you make up for in durability in aluminum, you typically lose in ride....again, generally speaking. Just depends whats more important to you. Also, its true that you can find goof deals out there on relatively new boats with low hours, but you also could be taking on someone else's problems. I have a couple buddies that bought used as described above and have had to sink money into the boats. Could just be unfortunate luck. Point is, its a risk buying used, but if you're lucky and do your research, you could very well make a great deal on a good boat.

You can find used boats still under warranty pretty easily. If it's under warranty, just run the crap out of it when you first get it to see if there is anything broken and get it fixed for free. There are so many people out there willing to drop serious cash and finance a boat that realize afterwards that they don't fish as much as they thought they did. They then sell a perfectly fine 2 year old boat that's got a year or so left on the warranty.

I'm like you, my dad has a 22 foot Blazer Bay with a 250 Suzuki and it has been a great boat. It's a 2009 professional model he bought from a professional guide from Florida in 2010.

He got a great deal because the guide got it as a discount as Blazer Bay sponsors him. If you can find a deal like this it's much cheaper than buying new and the boat was practically new.

Three live wells and a my dad added a five grand Lowrance system (it does everything). Of course it has a Power Pole and just about every other accessory you can think of.

I highly recommend Blazer Bay. Great boat and great customer service.

All the boats mentioned are worth a look. My last boat I sold was a 22ft blazer fisherman. Never had any problems with. After I sold that I looked at skeeters, champions, tritons, rangers, nautic stars, blue waves, and yellowfins. Ended up buying a shearwater after all said and done.

Epic Bay Boats seem to be the latest and hottest boat selling right now. Have talked to a few who have purchased one this year and they all seem to be very happy with their purchase.

Shearwater
Triton
BlackJack

The rest

I personally think the bigger boat wins here, they are all great looking boats. Just you cant beat the room and the ride of those 24 footers. I almost bought a PF 2200, glad I went with the 24'. Good luck! Report back with which one you pick up

How do you like it so far, it's one of the few boats mentioned that I've never fished.

I've fished next to 'em and like the way they sat and ran in the water but that's about all I've got.

I like the Century and the Blackjack bc Yamaha. Not sure how newer Mercs are, but they seem to break far more often than Yamahas.

I rode in a 25 Shearwater with a 300 yamadog the other day. Not impressed at all with the holeshot and the wiring looked like a birdsnest in the console. They do look nice and it rode pretty good in 2 foot seas
