Just keep in mind there are only 2 companies that make batteries. No matter what brand you are buying. Had a buddy work in an automotive shop and they had batteries in the back. You told them what battery you needed and what brand you wanted they went and got the right size and slapped whatever sticker brand on that you requested.

Brand Manufacturer
ACDelco Johnson Controls
Advance Auto Johnson Controls
AutoCraft Johnson Controls
Autolite Exide
AutoZone Johnson Controls
Bosch Johnson Controls
Champion Johnson Controls
Costco Johnson Controls
Delco Johnson Controls
Delco-Remy Exide
DieHard Johnson Controls
Duralast Johnson Controls
Duralast Johnson Controls
Equalizer Johnson Controls
EverStart (Wal-Mart) Exide or Johnson Controls, depending on model
Firestone Johnson Controls
Interstate Johnson Controls
Marathon Exide
Motorcraft Johnson Controls
NAPA Exide
Optima Johnson Controls
Orbital Exide
Pep Boys Johnson Controls
Sears Exide or Johnson Controls, depending on model

Wal-Mart Exide or Johnson Controls, depending on model

I use two Trojan 6v golf cart batteries for my 12v 55lb Minn Kota. Has more than twice as much amp hours as 1 "deep cycle marine" battery

Can't beat the value of the Sams club Duracell batteries, the AGM or flooded batteries are great values, I plan on picking up a few of the AGM's

This, or the Napa commercial. Interstate are not good batteries anymore.

for cranking battery, I've had good luck with Interstate as well as a cheap arse Wal Mart brand.
Interstate battery is as old as the boat - 5 years
Wal Mart battery is about 10-15 years old.

The trick to keeping any battery is to keep a trickle / float charger on them when you park the boat in the shed.

WalMart. Return them every spring for new ones. I have done it for years and have never had a battery problem in a boat or the RV. I am sure they would last more than one season but they are about $90 new and within a year replacing them costs about $30 and I know they will last another year without any trouble. WalMart has never blinked at warrantying them...I don't recall them ever asking a question or testing them....the purchase price is based on their being warranted within a year...they are not concerned with someone actually taking them up on the offer....and they have been doing it for about 20 years that I know of.

I would rather sell my boat every year and get a new one than replace a group 31 crank where it is in my boat. The last replacement damn near killed me.

LOL....I get it. I had a Chevrolet years ago that had to have the front clip removed to replace the battery and a BMW that had to have the rear seat removed LOL. The ones in my RV were tough but I built a fold down bracket with drawer slides that allow me to lower them beneath the chasis and slide them out...otherwise it was like replacing the transmission LOL.
