That sounds terrifying. How long did it take you to wake up from that dream, and were you covered in sweat after?

I saw one on Frenchtown road in Central in 1996. There were three of us in the car. If it wasn't a black panther then I have no clue what it was. Wasn't drinking that night either.

Wasn't asleep. I was sitting onbmy friend's dad's stand that he had built in the top of an iron wood tree. It had moss all over it and a flying squirrel nest further up. When the cat was coming up the tree I thought it was the squirrels scratching around.

There are other instances of a large dark colored cat being seen in East Feliciana. Not to mention a few years back there was an article in one of the local papers in Amite county where one of the Transcontinental Pipeline guys ran over a big arse mountain lion/cougar/puma in the Amite/Woodville/Gloster area. They had photoa and DNR had to come out and do an investigation due to it being an exotic cat. You guys can make jokes towards people with their claims. But in the end the truth of the matter is that their are big cats in Louisiana and other regions of the southern United States. Not calling them a black panther, but there are plenty of names that fit the bill for a large cat. I know of other instances that point to large cats in the area. But considering the all knowing OB gods think everyone else is full of shite, I will save my phone screen the abuse of pecking at it with my fingers for no reason except to make the OB gods laugh. And if anyone knows the portion of East Feliciana that I am talkin about, you would know there is a lot of lowland and farmland along with swamo that borders Thompson Creek all the way down to the Mississippi from Possum Corners.

Large cats and large black cats is two different things. Knowledgeable people on the board really question a black panther because there are none native to north america. There are no black cougars.

I can't believe anyone would question the multiple encounters with something that doesn't exist.

Also, considering the trash we have in this state that will not hesitate to kill a black bear or blast an eagle out of a tree, the fact that we've never seen one of these black Panthers despite all the risky encounters, says a lot.

You can post a wall of text, but a total of zero people believe that ridiculous story about you battling a large black cat with yellow eyes (who would have ever thought you'd drop the "baby" sound) that was climbing a tree to get to you. Do you know the stats on non-zoo jaguar attacks (since all it could have been was a jaguar) in the US?

Really, I'm embarrassed for you.

Do you think I care if you are "embarassed for me"? I have been on this earth long enough to not give two f*cks to what some random person on a message board thinks. I know what I saw and heard. And every other person on this board that has seen similar things knows what they saw. You are not the be all end all that determines whether soom jackass let a pet go when it got too big. You have no clue as to what takes place on this earth every damn minute. As you stated in your other post, likely some gun toting redneck would have killed one by now. In the same instance you have no idea what the same rednecks are willing to do to have a cool little pet that can eat your pet lab. So if off my case. I never said I saw a black panther, i have seen a very large cat climbing up a tree through moss at dusk. Regarding knowledgable people on this board. I have been hunting and doing things in the outdoors since I was 4 years old. So that gives me 30 years of experience. I know what I have seen. I also know that the big arse cat that the Transcontinental Pipeline technician hit with his truck was not a house cat. And the Mississippi DNR reported that it was an abnormally large cougar.

There's a few documented sightings of black bobcats out there. One was actually captured in Florida a few years ago. I realize it's not a panther, but it is a fairly large cat that does populate the state.

Yeah...see...that never happened.

Not sure what is so funny to you guys.

Cougars/pumas/mountain lions are known to cover areas anywhere from 400-500 miles. There are eatimates of over 31,000 cougars in the western US. And some have been found as far east as New York state. The estimated population of panthers in Florida alone are over 150. And their have been confirmed reports of them in both Louisiana and Georgia. Free ranging cats can be any place their four legs want to take them. Yeah, they may not be black in color. But who is to day their coat is not dark brown? You don't even belueve they exist. Do your research. They are all over the North American continent. And I have yet to say they were a "black panther", i said they were large cats. Who would think a bull shark would be caught in the Mississippi River near Illinois? You guys don't know everything and it is pretty amusing to see your posts refuting this stuff. You may hunt and fish, but that doesn't make you an animal biologist.

Black panther = Bigfoot
One of the best facts for their non existence is lack of road kill. There is more supposed black panther sightings than black bears in louisiana, but every year numerous bears get smoked while crossing a road. There has never been one documented black panther to get killed by a vehicle in the United States yet they're seen by dumb asses every year. There's an estimated population of 160 Florida panthers in a small portion of Florida and every year numerous Florida panthers get killed on roads that aren't even travelled that much. If you've seen a black panther, do yourself a favor and realize that you are genetically inferior to the average person. This includes your grandpappy or uncle that "had one stalk him, molest him or whatever shite story that's usually associated with black panther sightings. I do appreciate hearing the black panther stories from hunting club members, because that makes it easy to pinpoint the numb nuts you don't want to hunt anywhere near.

My dad swears he saw a big arse dark cat in lake bouef a few years ago. An old man also says he saw one in a tree back there.

Now for the important question. How many fish?
