Can anyone ID this little guy?
He has showed up daily and loves to shuffle through the seeds and throw shite everywhere.

Looks like an oriole, I had one last year in Thibodaux hanging around around for a few weeks.

Male Eastern Towhee is correct.

Females are brown where this guy is black. And Orioles wouldn't be eating seed.

Great info guys and gals. I originally thought an Oriole, but that seems wrong.

Context clues. Oriole should have immediately been eliminated based on food habit alone. Not to mention that bird doesn't look anything like an oriole other than similar coloration.

That is one of my favorite birds. They get in my gardens and scratch like a chicken. If you try to imitate their call, they will answer you.

Hmmm

Not hard to mistake the two. Especially an orchard oriole

How did you put those box supports in those trees? Did you drill into the tree and glue a pipe coupling in?

It looks like a flange screwed to the tree.

4 flanges. Two into the tree. Two on the bottom of the feeder. I like it because if I want to replace the base it’s simply unscrewing a few screws.

I had a cat that would sit under the feeder and this change up seemed to sort of deter him. The pellet in his arse may have assisted.

If I had one of those in my yard, there would be six squirrels in it.

Using a small laptop with tiny screen here. I couldn't see the flanges. After your reply I zoomed in and saw the flanges. Definitely the better way to do it.
