Why not try to prevent that.

Because it's a dog. Lets worry about people getting killed or injured first.

Exactly. It is a dog dependent on you to take care of it. Properly restrain the animal so that it doesn't pose a risk to the driver of the vehicle or the drivers on the road.

A subcontractor took me to lunch today and told me as we were walking out..............said he left lunch on Friday and there was a cop in the parking lot going and checking car doors...............any one that opened got a ticket on the windshield.

I've never heard of such.

Hell if I know......

Writing tickets for leaving your car unlocked instead of arresting folks breaking into it I suppose.

What made us decide that dogs in the beds of trucks were a major hazard on the US interstates? I'd like to know the percentage of crashes caused by dogs jumping out of trucks on the interstate vs crashes caused by people talking on the phone.

According to the humane society 100,000 a year are either killed or injured from jumping out of the beds of trucks.

31% distracted by dogs in cars

You should move to China.

Right because asking someone to be responsible for their animals is communist. China probably encourages bed riding so that they can have tenderized dog meat.

I disagree with the humane society on some things, but a survey is a survey.

To me, its just like that law when you have wiper blades running on your car while driving, must have lights on. Almost 80 percent of the drivers don't do that.

Why make another law that no one will care about it? There's seatbelt law but we stil hear about accidents with people being ejected out because they had no seat belt on.

Imo, its just like telling a kid not to touch the hot stove but they go ahead and burn their hands. So what would this law do? Maybe a slight gain of obedience but will become nothing. Just a waste of taxpayer's money. I just wish we could focus on more conductive issues than knee-jerk reactions.

The smart people do actually restraint their dogs while driving, its those idiots who dont care about their well beings. As a result, they will have to pay for their misjudgment and live with the consequences.

Lawmakers are NOT your BABYSITTERS.

I highly doubt there is much credibility in this survey.

You're right beer. It is a law that more than likely will rarely be enforced. It is up to owners to be responsible for their pets and make sure they are provided a safe way to move them in a vehicle.

It's shite like this that pisses me off. Someone telling me the dog "deserves to be taken care of" or "depends on humans for food and shelter." Goddddammit that's Horseshite. The dog is allowed to be alive because a human chooses to go out of his way to feed the damn thing. Without a human most dogs won't last a month. Quit acting like these dogs have rights. They are dogs, not children. How about one of our legislators propose a bill forcing me to post a public notice before I decide to spray my yard for bugs, just in case my neighbor the entomologist wants to voice his opinion? Tell all those frickers in the capital to figure out a way to build bigger prisons to house criminals for the maximum sentences, reduce the fraudulence in all areas of the welfare system, give law enforcement the shite they need to put bad guys in jail, and put some more motherfrickin lanes on I-10 and I-12 across the state before they start worrying about a damn blue heeler chilling on a toolbox.

How about government staying out of every little detail of people's business. I didn't know we had so many Democrats on the outdoor board.

My dogs never come before my family or any human. I don't equate them to humans or say they have rights, but I provide what they need to live a healthy life dog life. Owning animals is a choice, so you should be responsible for that choice. Should it be a law? It shouldn't take a law to make someone be responsible for their animals, but I don't disagree with the premise of the law.

Law aside. How is willfully placing a dog in a situation where it is traveling at 60mph + and could possibly jump out and kill itself and cause a wreck which injures humans have anything to do with freedom?

I agree there are a lot more serious issues that should be addressed ahead of this but that is a different subject altogether.

How would this law harm you? It's not much different than speed limits or the requirements for head lights, tail lights and the various other motor vehicle safety laws.

Do you really think this is a bad rule/ law?
