I put so much stock in reliability that I choose revolvers for every handgun application other than combat

That's funny -- but I assure you that wasn't my intent.
I was just responding to a member whose opinions and advice have always seemed to be thoughtful, intelligent and mature (except for maybe the XD stuff
)
But as you may have detected, I find the repetitive "____ gun is sexy, and the "just rack the slide," and the "looking for the best good self defense gun - but it has to fit in my pocket and cost less than $250" posts to be a bit flaky.
Then again, I'm just a dumb redneck and this is an internet forum.

Then again, there are a bunch of 1911 fanatics here.
You can be a fan of a design and choose yourself whether or not it's ideal for CC.
Personally, I don't carry my 1911 because the damn thing is so heavy. Besides that, I love it. It has got to be the most fun gun to shoot at the range, hands down.

I carry a J frame as a back-up and sometimes when not working. Most shootings take place within 7 yards and if you are familiar with the pistol and have run at least several hundred rounds through it you should be proficient at that distance and even more extreme distances. I qualified with this pistol on the Louisiana POST course and that required me to shoot 10 shots at 25 yards and even more at 15 yards. I had no problem qualifying with it.
