The culprit in poison ivy is an oil.

1) First use some sort of dispersant to remove any oil, but be careful to not spread it to unaffected skin (Dawn or anything else that will disperse oil)

2) Take oral Benadryl tablets (will also help you sleep through the night)

3) Spread either hydrocortisone cream or Benadryl cream on the affected areas.

4) Cover the affected areas.

This, once it is there you treat the symptoms and time do its thing

You aren't. I've never had it until last year. I would always play in the shite and never got an outbreak. One day I thought I was immune and was doing yard work in nothing but shorts like I always do. Wasn't cutting limbs and weed eating. I had forgotten what poison ivy even looked like and must have weed eaten some ivy and it got in my blood.
I have never had reactions. I was told some people are just not affected by it. Not sure if true.

I was also told as we age our immune system weakens so being unaffected may not be forever.

The itching from poison ivy is caused by the skin's release of histamine. The heat from a scalding hot shower will actually promote the skins release of the histamine causing an increase in the itching. What will occur if your man enough to get through it is your body will exhaust it's current supply of histamine. The itching will temporarily go away until your body can produce more histamine. This time varies for different individuals. Thus the hot shower will actually provide some temporary relief.

My exwifes brother swears he got rid of his poison ivy by pissing on it in the shower. If he couldn't directly piss on the area he pissed in a cup and poured it on his skin. I called bullshite until I saw him pour a cup of hot piss all over his arm. To his credit the area was clear in 2 days, however I have never tried it personally.

Growing up, we had a mule that thought poison ivy was candy. We'd rotate him to wherever there was poison ivy, and it would be the first thing he'd go to.

Never affected him.

this man knows some shite about some shite.

I am a poison ivy getting son of a bitch, and you either go get a shot and a dosepak, or you do the Tecnu deal.

Used to get it on my pecker all the time, get it on hands, piss in woods, wake up the next day to fingertip shaped poison ivy rash on unit.

Wife went and picked up some of that tecnu scrub. I have so many tiny cuts everywhere its all over me so I lathered up my entire body with that and rinsed off. then I put some calamine lotion on to dry it out. I let it air out for a while and then I broke out the UA type hunting camos so i can keep it covered without irritating it.

ill see how it looks tomorrow and let yall know.
