If you're hunting east of the Mississippi River the second split is best. First split is strictly for hunting around Lafayette and Lake Charles on the pay for hunt fields.

A couple years ago we killed 460 and in a trade for fishing rights to some ponds a padnah of mine had a dark skinned fella clean all the doves. He plucked every one. I'm talking legs, necks, not a feather left

I helped pluck over 100 a few times.

I can't make myself do anything else with a bird. Can't make myself waste that much.

wait, are you talking about me again?

I have ADHD, so I have to move if they are not flying, and jump them out of trees. Alx just sits on the tailgate and drinks until they fly right at him.

To the OP, they are generally sitting in trees when the season opens at noon. So best bet is to wait until evening, but the LSU game will be on at 7, so I have to leave early.

Day in the life of a dove: fly down from roost after daybreak, find seeds/grains to eat. Get gravel and water, go roost until late afternoon and digest. Flydown in afternoon and eat seeds/grains, then get gravel, then water, then roost for night and digest.

also note: i pick every dove too. i love a whole dove smothered in some andouille gravy over rice. Without all the skin it just doesn't taste as good.

Actually 3 yaks and two bateaus, but don't tell my ex-wife or she'll want more $ for the other two boats she/you forgot about.
