Best Tent Camping

Been looking for some places to bring the kids camping but google doesn't give a ton of information. Anyone have any good experiences camping within 3 hours of New Orleans?
I'd prefer an area where the campsites are not on the edge of a parking lot with little to nothing (in terms of trees) between each camp site. On the flip side, I can't have my wife and kids hiking a mile from the car to the campsite either.

We used to go here when I was a kid. I think ownership has changed, but we enjoyed it back in the 90s. And they have bathrooms, so it's not 100% primitive (but it's pretty close).
ETA: Link won't work, but it's Canoe & Trail Outpost in Tylertown, MS. They do have a website.

Indian Creek's primitive area is fantastic.

Have you tried Bogue Chitto or Fountainebleau State Parks?

I grew up going to fountainbleu and unless they changed things from when I was a kid, I remember it being more like a bunch of people sleeping in tents in a parking lot than individual camp sites.
Maybe my memory is bad?
I’ll definitely look into these other places. Thanks for the recs!

Now if you want that, I'd look into Wild Azalea Trail

The primitive camp at Buccaneer park in Bay St Louis is pretty cool. It’s back on a flood plane and effectively car camping. Check it out.

Any LA WMA has campsites. My son and I take a boat into the Atchafayala swamp and camp twice a year. We fish or hunt or both, totally self sufficient. I did however by a Honda invertor generator to charge boat batteries, and phones.
