No, but I can point you in the right direction.

Ih8mud.com and sor.com have classifieds.

Don't know the name or contact info but there is a guy in Donaldsonville that has something like 500+ jeep chassis'. That may be a place to check out. I'm sure someone on here knows who it is.

then shut the frick up because I'm trying to make a sale here.

seriously though, the only other older 4x4's i'd be interested in would be an FJ45LV or IH Scout. i've never trusted the bronco because of the severe lack of rockers.

to the OP: another cool one to look for would be a 70-73 model jeep commando.

I've seen this around town a few times. I'm sure distance is a big factor, but it's a very nice looking jeep. LINK

There's a Commando not 15 miles from me. Not sure of the year, but I'd bet it's a '70's model. And it runs.

Are the axles original on that '77? I only ask because jeep/AMC switched to the widetrack around '82 I think. If they are original, they're going to be the narrower width axles that were known to be "tippy".

I wouldn't buy it (if it were me) but (again if it was me) if I did, I'd look at some wheel spacers and offset wheels to widen the stance- as wide as I could go without affecting steering.

Congrats on the new (old) jeep. And good choice on the 7 vs the 5. A lot more aftermarket parts out there for it.

All I want is an all-original CJ-5 with no lift, little rust, and no oil leaks for $3k. Why's that so damn hard.

There is a blue CJ5 in Ponchatoula that has been completely restored. I believe the guy was asking around 9k.

i have owned several 5's and 7's. Good luck finding one for that price. The cheapest one i bought was for 3500, but it did not run, had rust issues, and the electrical was a mess. The good part was i got it running for cheap and it was never lifted. I put about 1000 in the 304 v8 and it was a blast to drive.

Bumping this old thread...DLauw-anything else specific to look for in old CJ7s? I've been looking at a few lately. Steer towards the mid 80's CJ7?
