Little family camping trip just south of Huntsville & looking for a suggestions for best hiking, must see/do I'm the area (within an hour or 2 max.

We love hiking, must be dog-friendly (young act7ive dogs).

Considering Signal Mountain near Chattanooga or maybe Cloudland Canyon area just into GA.

Check out Cherokee Rock Village. It’s over south of Gadsden. There are some really cool caves and all sorts of passages through the rocks to explore.

Outside of your travel criteria, but Cheaha State Park (Oxford, AL) is an awesome campground with great trails.

Cloudland is a good hike. The stairs to the waterfall are never-ending but the loop trail was fun.

The park also puts on some great activities for the kids.

Spent last thanksgiving in the part and it was a great trip

Near Monteagle there are a bunch.

Greeter Falls
Laurel Falls
Savage Falls

Those are a few to get you started.

Cloudland Canyon is beautiful, and the hike down to the waterfall is great, but unfortunately due to drought, there is currently no waterfall. I think they had some wildfires recently in the park as well, they closed it for a week or two I believe.

It's impressive how friendly, knowledgable and helpful those folks are. The opposite of MS state park employees.
