OK. My neighbor is holding out on me. Our yards are identical. Both have Bermuda grass, use msma to control weeds. But he won’t tell me what he uses to fertilize. He does not water his yard except when he fertilizes. Here is the rub. His yard is a beautiful dark green right now. What do you think is his secret?

Don’t cut Bermuda short. Start mowing at 3-4” range. Your yard will be like a dark green shag rug.

He is using triple 13 and here it is....100% ammonium nitrate(all white pebbles)....

Ammonium nitrate to bermuda is like steriods to muscle....spread ot riggt before a rain. Dont use right before a freeze

My neighbor uses triple 13 but I’ve read that a 3-1-2 ratio is best for bermuda…what’s up with that?

I partially agree with this.

Don't start the season at 4 inches, but you might finish the season at 4.

Unless you mow 3 or 4 times a week, trying to keep it super short is just going to scalp your yard if you only mow weekly.

Start low, but slowly raise your mowing height through the summer, you'll know when to raise it when you scalp it.

Also- if you only mow weekly, do not fertilize it.

Not trolling. I’ve been dealing with Bermuda for many years. I keep mine much taller than my neighbors and my grass has been the greenest of any other yard in the neighborhood I have lived in. I watch them scalp theirs down to nothing all the time and it looks terrible.

The greenest part of Bermuda is the top inch or so. The rest is yellow/brown colored. Lopping off the green part never worked for me. Of course you will have to mow more often, but that doesn’t bother me. It also keeps the weeds drowned out as well. JMO..

33-0-0. Straight ammonia nitrate. Make sure you can water it in once you fertilize. We use this to keep our football field thick and green at the start of football season. Until we plant with Royal Flush rye grass for the winter.

In BTR area, try Tri-Parish in Slaughter. Also most Feed and Seed stores.

Kind of thought straight ammonia nitrate was illegal to sell to the public now. Most has sulphur added to it. Maybe Louisiana is different.

I read a recent news story that a bunch went missing in the US, maybe contact your local mosque or fbi field office.

Yea, I know that’s available. Someone was talking about straight ammonia nitrate and I was just curious if that was available to buy in Louisiana. Apparently it is not.
