Anyone else seeing reports of Berretta trying to hostile takeover Ruger?

My uncle told me a month ago. Not sure how he heard about it. I assumed it was publicly reported but I haven’t checked. Would be a shame if it happened. Nothing against Beretta but Ruger is a great American gun maker.

This would be a step in the wrong direction, for sure.

WSJ had a detailed article about this yesterday. Beretta thinks Ruger should be more profitable.

I like Beretta and have several guns that they make or falls under their umbrella. They need to leave Ruger the hell alone.

Ruger has always been the working man's firearm, the 1985 Ford truck of the gun world.

This would be a really odd move for Beretta, they own and import Tikka, which directly competes with everything ruger makes.
If this is their play to make tikka quality rifles with Ruger features, then it would be awesome. The only knock anyone has ever had on tikka as a brand is they are extremely late to the game on anything new or charge way too much for cosmetic features, where ruger adds it for about what you’d pay to have it done aftermarket.

Beretta owns 9.95% of Ruger stock. They have been trying to get seats on the board.
Beretta offered to buy RGR stock at $44.80. That was a ~ 20% premium at the time. Now it's only $2.60 (5% premium)
The ruger board rejected the offer.

Beretta says it is looking to improve an underperforming company led by long-tenured directors more interested in inflated salaries than shareholders. Ruger says Beretta wants to buy shares on the cheap and grab a disproportionate number of board seats in a creeping takeover.

The dueling narratives have crisscrossed the Atlantic since Beretta, the world's oldest defense firm, first announced a 7.7% stake in Ruger on Sept. 22.
That day, Seyfert had yet to pour his first cup of coffee when he saw that a regulatory filing mentioning his company had just hit the website of the Securities and Exchange Commission. The 7 a.m. disclosure revealed that Beretta had, to his surprise, just become Ruger's largest shareholder.

Beretta's oldest and main production facility is located in Gardone Val Trompia, Italy. It’s been there since 1526. That’s kind of old.
