I'd get a Howa barreled action, pick out a precision frame that fits me and go from there.

euro optic

As to weight, if you buy a FFP, the weight will be an issue on most all of them.

There is also a 3-15x44 on their sight for a little more.

If you want to go Arken the EPL models are lighter weight. Athlon has decent options in your price range too

I just bought a Bergara 6.5 PRC. I can’t shoot for shite, but have been shooting a friends, and have been ringing plates at 1000yds. Hope to get it set up before rifle season and shoot some deer with it.

I've looked at the Athlon Ares ETR as well. Right now probably leaning Arken EPF, Vortex Viper PST Gen II, and Athlon Ares ETR. Seems like all could be had $900 or less. I'm a big fan of Vortex's warranty.

6.5mm or 7mm PRC is on my radar. My buddy swears by his 300 PRC. One of those 3 will be my next gun.

The 7mm PRC is badass too, but I have 7mm Rem Mag and I really wanted something to shoot smaller west Texas whitetails with.

Now I need to get glass for it. I'll eventually get something better, but trying to stay under $1k to start. Any suggestions on a first focal plane mil radian scope that could also go on a 7mag hunting rifle in the future when I do upgrade?

I'd browse the for sale sections at longrangehunting, rokslide, and snipershide. Alot of people buy these scopes and never even take them out of the box or they picked them up off a prize table.

Vortex Razor lht
Nightforce SHV
Bushnell LRHS or LRTS(heavier)

Those would be my picks. I have a bushnell lrhs 4.5-18x on my rifle. It's been fine, I wish I could find a 3-12x lrhs(they discontinued it years back). That'd be perfect for a hunting rifle.

Went and looked through the Vortex Razor LHT and Viper PST Gen 2. Also picked up the Nightforce NX8. Obviously out of the price range I stated compared to the other two, but definitely drawn to the NF over the others. Maybe I buy once cry once . But I've spent over $10k on firearms already this year . I have a bit of a hobby problem.

Have one in 1-8x and I love that scope. Also have the ATACR 5-25x56. By far the best scope I own. It’s incredible but would not be a good scope for hunting as it’s incredibly heavy.

Atacr 1-8 is the most ultimatest scope ever. One day a year when I am rich.

Used SWFA scopes come up for sale every now and then. The 3-15 and 5-20HD are both excellent and reasonably priced.

Before I'd spend NF NX8 money, I want to handle a Leupold Mark 5. Any of those would be a long term purchase and. No need to double as a future hunting scope. I really need to real it back in to that sub $1k range though. Still have to buy dies for reloading, brass, bipod, etc. So have several hundred more bucks to blow before getting to dial the gun in.

Need to level the scope tonight, but had to slap it on there to get a look. Ended up just getting everything now instead of upgrading later. Appreciate the feedback in this thread. Definitely influenced me on almost all decisions (scope, 6gt round, etc.)

I just bought a Bergara B14 HMR in 6.5 PRC with a Vortex Viper PST on top. I’m excited to go sling some lead out of it.
