They seem like the cheapest thing around. Are they totally useless? I really don’t need anything fancy. I’m still newish to the AR-15 game. Ive already done a few builds myself but I’m trying to diversify the calibers I can use because the ammo shortage has been no fun. Ive made some posts on here about other builds but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on BCA. I don’t want to buy something that’s total junk and won’t last at all. If it’s no frills but gets the job done that’s good enough for me.

Thoughts?

I bought one in 7.62x39. Shoots great, no hang ups, it does what it’s supposed to do. I can’t find any complaints.

Awesome. Exactly what I’m looking for. Side charging or does it have a handle charger?

My son has. BCA upper in 350 legend. It’s on a PSA lower. No issues with either .

I have a 10in 300 black out upper that has worked flawlessly.

My coworker has a .556 that worked great. Then it would not cycle a round so he called them. They mailed him a box, fixed the issues and mailed it back at no cost. So great customer service!

My two have been great.

Side charger is a deer hunter.

I made some modifications to the side charger for myself. It's OK. Can come loose if you don't use a loctite. I use Teflon tape.

Wish they would have tapped it larger or with reverse threads.

I did jb weld the knurled know to the screw. Don't need an Allen Wrench to take it off.

I've had exactly zero issues. Nether have the three people I recommendedthem to.

Alright I feel confident in ordering a 7.62 upper from them especially for the price. I’ll upgrade as necessary here and there. It seems like a great starting point to build from.

I don't know what price a BCA upper, but I know right now a SOLGW upper w/o a handguard is going for a bout $400.

Prices for BCA have been dropping and most are under $300. Quite a few with sales have been getting close to $200.

I got a 20” 5.56 and a 10.5” 7.62 from them for less than $300 each shipped. I actually like the side charging better than traditional. No issues yet at all. Great place to diversity your AR types.

One of my first builds was in .223 wylde BCA several years ago. It eats steel, shoots consistently enough, and for $420 all in I couldn't be happier with it

Armsdealer, I replied to you in the AK thread.

You seem to be the only person posting negative on the BCA concept. Can you share objective information on what makes them total garbage, in your eyes?

In my experience, I've found that you can take a BCA upper, and put it on any AR 15 lower, and it will run if you have the correct magazine for the caliber. I've checked with my Radical lower, a PSA lower, a KG lower, and a S&W lower. The pinholes line up, the parts snap into place, and the gun will function as intended.

I've had ONE issue with a part (extractor), and my experience:

1st, it was an easy fix at home. I pushed out the pin, replaced it with (a non-BCA) extractor, which fit perfectly, and the gun returned to full function.

2nd, upon contacting BCA on this, they sent me a replacement extractor free of charge, which is now a spare (replacing the spare I purchased and installed). Their customer service operated as desired without hassle.

I can't answer whether the brand is good for 1k rds a month. But for the price they ask, they're absolutely a valid option, especially if you wish to explore alternative calibers.

If you're looking to shoot 7.62x39, then just my opinion, you're looking to shoot the absolute cheapest available centerfire rifle ammo on the market. Russian steel-cased ammo that currently sits at/under 30 cents a rd, and in the past, cost no more than brass 9mm range fodder.
Spending a ton to shoot cheap ammo makes no sense, you lose the savings.

If you have an AR, you can spend $600 and get:
a BCA upper
a couple Duramag magazines
a 1k case of Wolf ammo
a backup enhanced firing pin, if you don't trust BCA's

or you could put it into a designated fund, which you'd need to add to, to buy:
a)an AK.
b)a different upper, and almost certainly also a BCG seperately
c)ammo
d) duramags
