Just saw something online about passing a federal law outlawing it nationwide. Didn't know it was legal in 12 states.

Well it's illegal to hunt bear in MS therefore illegal to bait them

LA has only had one season but baiting was allowed.

Most bear hunt videos I’ve seen happen near garbage cans. Is that baiting or just good scouting?

I had a biologist actually explain to me how to set a camera trap for a bear. Donuts strung up by mono fishing line high enough off the ground so that coons and coyotes couldn't get to them.

That way you get a picture of the bear standing on its hind legs. And they can often use that to determine gender of the bear.

I'm not sure whether actually leaving food out for them intentionally is illegal or not. But it's certainly illegal to hunt them over bait.

Baiting for black bears has been legal in Oklahoma. I have a friend that baits for bears in Pushmataha County.

I'd like to buy a rural tract in the Kiamichi Mountains here in Oklahoma to do some bear hunting myself.

Do people that hunt bears actually eat bear meat?
