Hey was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good brand of batting cage for my 11yo? I see some options on amazon but dont want to waste money on something cheap.

I have 55ft fortress trapezoid cage. No regrets. I didn't want to put poles in my yard. I like the ability to move or take down if needed.

when i was younger, my dad built one out of lumber. 4x4 posts for the uprights and 2x8's for the cross members. basically a rectangle frame with 3-4 bays. not sure where he got the net from. the pitching machine was an Iron Mike pitching machine.

the frame resembled this, but it didn't have base board supports.

kids get more than enough reps in hitting these days..... work on baserunning and fielding equal to time spent hitting.

skip the batting cage

an old trawl net works wonders around a light timber frame

Chicks dont give a tinkers damn about getting a good jump from second to third on the breaking pitch down, or who tags from second on the deep ball to center.

Chicks dig the long ball. Period. There is really no other reason to play the sport.

That said, I have a rotation of high school cages we have permission to go to. Then some we dont, but go anyway.

If you hit, you don't sit.

I have the 10x10x35 off of Amazon. I bought a refurbished unit off Amazon. I found it too small. The quality of the netting was fine but my cage is indoor. I now have a 14x14x45 and it’s much better. So if you get one off Amazon get the 12x12. If it’s an outdoor cage the net will probably last 3-4 years. It’s not crazy high end like you see at the high schools but it’s not bottom end either. I assume the Amazon ones for $400+ are higher quality. Mine was like $250.

I like that trapazoid. If you cant weld, find someone to weld you one up out of 1 1/2" handrail pipe. Be stronger than anything you could buy online.
