The general set up looked something like this. For big trout use a 1/0 khale hook with a split shot like 6-8" from the hook. Adjust the bobber stop to present the bait close to the bottom but not enough to let the croaker get in the mud/rocks. Might be 10-15' down. Hook the croaker through the eyes. Although, Capt. Tommy later in the night didn't suggest going through the eyes because the croaker can't see the trout and won't get excited.
