BASS Sabine Tourney

quote:

“Due to the grey areas in the Louisiana Delta/Tidal waters that could create an uneven playing field, the 2018 Elite event in Orange will be restricted to Texas waters only,” said Weldon. Similar problems exist in the Atchafalaya Basin area of south-central Louisiana, a large portion of which is privately owned. B.A.S.S. has also decided not to schedule professional tournaments in that area until and unless the public access issues are resolved.

Maybe when our State starts seeing lost revenue they will make a change.

Well there is a lot of marsh around there that is privately owned. Sucks that all of LA is off limits but I understand the fuss of the land owners

This pisses me off, but it's not going to change anytime soon. Too many politicians getting their pockets lined from oil companies and rich landowners.

the good have to suffer for the bad in some cases.....some of these assholes blow through the marsh trimmed up and wide open and it pisses the landowners and land managers off.

Even though the boundaries are defined, TB is not a 2018 stop.

The "land owners" have nothing to fuss about when it comes to tidal waters

Plainly the "land owners" do not own the tidal waters...period...no matter how the debate is twisted

So sad.

Hopefully more people get behind the Louisiana sportsman coalition so we can come to a reasonable solution for both anglers and land owners...

That's always the cry of the non land owner. As simple as you make it sound, it clearly isn't the truth and the Bassmasters doesn't support your theory. Damn near everything south of I-10 is tidal and to say none of it belongs to the landowner is asinine to me.

But it's a law. How is this not true?

You mean like cutting Lilly booms open or jumping levees creating new cuts to access marsh?

Louisiana is leaving a lot of money on the table because of the issue, there needs to be a common ground found.

quote:

Last time the Classic was in Louisiana, in Shreveport and Bossier CIty, the competition attracted a record 137,700 visitors and had an estimated economic impact of $27 million, according to economists at LSU-Shreveport.

If the bassholes didn't cheat so damn much it wouldn't be an issue in these tourneys. Having key and locking canal behind you, accessing marsh by cutting across shallow areas only to fish behind posted signs, etc. Just have everything not gated open. Some are going to risk it, it's just the culture of the sport.
