OB Baws. Long time listener, first time poster. Been having a place in Toledo Bend for about 6 years now and we are strictly Sacalait warriors. We do very well for ourselves in that department. I have been bass fishing on that lake maybe 5 times for about 1 hour combined in the past 10 years I've been going up there. No where near the voice of bass fishing. About all I know is to throw a spinner, worm, or crank bait at the bank in the coves or grass. Unfortunately, I know that is only useful at certain times of the year. Any of you bass baws know when the bass move up on the banks and when it would be worth trolling and trowing at the banks? I've heard March and April?

Maybe the first thing I have to do is buy a $100k skeeter with 3 to 4 50" monitors and a sponsor shirt with 10 Duckett rods? Not sure.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Watermelon red fluke in shoreline grass is like shooting fish in a barrel on Toledo right now.

You can catch them on the bank all year. This time of the year is best though.

What area of the lake are you on?

Buy some senko's (don't get knockoffs) and fish them weightless, they cast good and sink in the grass without getting hung. Texas rig a hook only.

Find grass on the bank or near shallow water and cast around the edges, in it whatever. Cast then barely twitch the rod tip a few times repeating, they love em.

I'm not sure what the bend colors are but pumpkinseed or black and blue work at most lakes

You have a lot of really good bass water around there. Some of the best deep stuff is right there.

What’s supposed to go there this weekend-all the hotels are closed. Any place renting to out-of-towners?

Not legally. No one is allowed to rent their places out.

You can camp out on one of the islands.

It takes time.

This time of the year the spawn slows down
Starts post spawn.
At the same time the fish are all over as it is a big lake.

Senko watermelon red flake seems like a producer.

Just scope out your area you want to fish.
Drive to a landing near the area you want to fish.
Fish that area.

Midlake 1215 you can always catch something.
Pine island I caught a few big girls near that area.

North state park launch there and fish around there. You should pick something up.

South you got an area by the state park boat launch full of grass you can catch something there looking at the cabins not going far.

Just read up on an area.
Launch in that area.
If water is bad go to another launch where the water or wind is not as bad.
Then go fish.
Just like any other water it just bigger.
You got deep area, shallow areas, and anything inbetween.

Here you go the real senko water Mellon red flake, jig, Topwater, and regular worm.
No go fish it.

You cannot catch fish if you don’t go.

No. We are right at 172 which is full pool.

The lake was lower earlier this year.

Now that it is at 172 the ground harden along with the extra brush in some areas.

Usually the fishing spikes up after this.

Just go man and fish.

The water is up. There were a bunch in the flooded bushes like button willows last time I was there about 2 weeks ago. They’re hungry.

You can catch them on whatever you are comfortable with. They were chewing on a white spinner bait for me. Also caught some on trick worms TX rigged weightless or wacky. I’m not a senko purist.
