Title says it all. I have a family of three armadillos living under my house and have not been able to catch them with a trap or with my .22.

I figured someone on here would have dealt with this before and could share some tips on how to get rid of these guys. The Mrs. is not happy because they have destroyed our yard.

heard moth balls will run them off. Don't know cause I've never had to use them. I'm smarter than a fricking armadillo so I always just shoot them.

sorry Tuna, I couldn't resist.

I've waited for them to emerge from under my porch after a thunderstorm on two occasions. Once the rain stopped, they came scurrying out. Otherwise, I have to stalk them at night.

All good, I was really hoping to find a quick way to take these little frickers out by putting in minimal effort. Looks like I'm about to have to go on the offensive this weekend.

I caught one under our camp house within hours. Just put a large racoon type trap with double door in front of their hole. Block off the sides so the only way in and out is through the trap.

If you spend a little money and purchase an armadillo trap from thearmadilliontrap.com you will catch them. These are scented traps and you will catch one the first night and then every night there after until they are gone. In a dry summer up here in East Texas I caught 25 at my house. Keep the trap in good shape and you can use it year after year like I do. I make my own now but I have the woodworking stuff to do it.

I was changing a light bulb in our laundry room a couple of weeks ago and I heard the very familiar sound of suppressed riffle fire from next door. I walked over to see what all the fuss was about and my neighbor had 5 dillo's in various stages of death on our property line. He has a cam setup on his back fence that alerts him, he hops online and see's the little bustards heading our way. I gave him a 12 pack and a couple hundred more rounds of 22 for his service.

They make some smoke bomb tube things you can buy.

If you can find their hole in daylight put the bomb in it and lay a board over the top with a brick on it

My mom had one in her flower bed and we smoke bombed his arse

Years ago I had a next door neighbor that I couldn't get along with. He was always complaining about things making his dogs bark but I didn't even have a dog then. One night at about 2am he showed knocking on my door. He complained that there was an armadillo in my back yard and his dogs were barking at it. I went into my garage and got my fishing net and caught the armadillo. Walked around my house into my front yard and dropped the armadillo out of the net. He got pissed and asked me why didn't I shoot it. I told him I wasn't waking up the rest of the neighborhood just because he couldn't get his dogs to stop barking.

Since that time, I don't mind armadillos so much.

Neighborhood and other HOA issues prevent me from shooting them. Already tried and was promptly shut down by next door Karen.

then you are stuck with traps, just use can of cat food and they will be in the trap by morning, they only come out at night unless forced to and they love can cat food

Between 10pm and 2am is magic time for armadillos. If you can get up and case your property around those times at night you will catch them slipping and be able to put a bullet in that arse. I’m usually good for about 4 or 5 a year around my place. A .22 hollow point bullet makes a very distinct sound when you finally pop one of those yard destroying assholes.
