PSA has a blemished lower for like 125 and a blemished uper with bcg for 250.

Buy em and snap em together. Crazy price

Well i refuse to use credit cards anymore since i got myself into some early life debt in my early 20s. So now, if i cant pay cash, i wait. Next thing ill be looking to buy will be optics. Im considering a combo magnification +red/green dot. But again, since this first one is a budget rifle, im not looking to drop too much cash.

Does it have any magnification? Or is it just red dot?

Please forgive me, but besides a regular ole rifle scope, im clueless.

I want to be able to shoot up to about 150 yards, but also have the red dot for close up.

Does that make sense?

No magnification, but I can consistently hit the 8 ring at 100 yards, and I’m a terrible shot.

I’d shoot at a pig at 150, but that’s about it. I’d want a regular scope out that far

You might also consider a Vortex Strike Eagle. They have a 1-6x and a 1-8x with illuminated recticle, so at 1x it would operate similar to a red dot without the eye relief of a red dot

I went with the cheaper option because, like you, I didn’t want to spend a lot on my first set up, and dropping $300 on a scope wasn’t in the cards

A cheap red dot doesn’t look remarkably different than a $400 red dot. A cheap scope does look a lot different than a nice one. If you want to be budget conscious, just remember that at a given price point for every additional feature the glass/eye box usually suffers, and that includes magnification range. A $200 1-4 is going to look better than a $200 1-6. A $200 1-4 is going to look a lot better than a $200 1-6 with an illuminated reticle. A $200 fixed power 4x will look better than any of them.

If you just want some magnification for 150 yards I’d consider an inexpensive 3x prism scope from Primary Arms.

I can't tell. I have a black upper. Nothing stands out.

I'll buy them no sweat.

Looking at a desert tan upper with parts kits to finish a lower I have and then have a third. One for each kid to give them later in life or to trade if something comes along. 400 for a complete upper, magpul flip up, big, and complete lower parts kit with stock. He'll of a price.

Got this bad boy in yesterday

I installed the Magpul MBUS flip up sights after taking this pic.

The lower should be in today, but i wont be picking it up until Saturday.

I just got the email that my lower shipped.

I have a feeling you will want to upgrade the grip and stock. I hate those grips with the hard plastic finger nub. The Magpul MOE+ grips are awesome. Overmolded (aka a soft rubber outer coating) and comfortable. However I THINK I read that some people don’t like them because they’re just a touch squishy which means slightly less accuracy than a hard plastic grip with zero give.

Oh there’s a chance when you slap them together there will be a little give between the upper and lower. This is normal however it is annoying to some. But I clean up that slop by sticking an accuwedge inside the lower. Basically a shim that forces the upper up just a hair and causes it to stay firm.

Good to know there is a fix for this issue, because a previous poster mentioned that being a possibility when putting together lowers and uppers from different manufacturers. Mine are both PSA so hopefully that wont be an issue.

Eh I have uppers and lowers from PSA that do this together. I think that problem is eliminated by shopping more high end. There’s also places that sell both receivers in a package deal. I think those probably fit together the best.

Also make sure you can isolate the slop in the stock and between the receivers. To get rid of the slop in the stock I lay a little bit of electrical wire down until the stock fits firmly. It’ll be harder to adjust though once you do that.

There is a little plastic piece that you can buy call an accu-wedge that fit's in the back of the lower that will eliminate the slop. It's very cheap and does a good job.

Yup. Referenced it in my earlier post. I have one in all of my rifles. They're great. They require some trimming though to fit each one exactly.

I watched a youtube video just now about how to install and trim them. Seems pretty fool proof, and a very simple solution. I will definitely go that route if i have the issue.

Sometimes there's still slop in the pivot pin area. There's a solution to that too with very small O rings. I've also had some luck with well placed small amounts of electrical tape.

I'll keep that in mind in case I have that problem, as well. Glad to know there are easy fixes for this.
