Will shoot my XDS for the first time tomorrow. Took it apart last night and put some Fireclean on it. Compared to my XDM, I'm not a fan of the little guard that they put around the slide lock, but since it's brand new, maybe that will get better.

I've posted this before, but anyone with a XDS and somewhat big hands should look into the Pierce grip extensions.
They make a hell of a difference IMO and aren't nearly as bulky as the 7 round extended mags.

I think I'll be getting the grip extension. Do you find the grip tape helps a lot?

Yep, I have it. I love it. You would never believe its .45 while shooting it.

I've shot an XDs before and I think they're quite nice. As others have said, you wouldn't believe it's a 45. It has very tame recoil and the trigger is surprisingly good.
I carry a 9mm because I like having a couple of extra rounds. But I know plenty of people who enjoy the 45 and go that route. If the shoe fits, roll with it...
