Anyone own a Ruger LCR? Thoughts?

I’ve wanted a revolver that I could conceal carry if I wanted.
I have a shield that I usually use, but I’ve wanted a revolver and I saw decent reviews and it comes in 9mm (I like the compatibility of ammo with my other pistols).
I held one recently and the grip is short as hell. I don’t have huge hands, but just seems a little short for any human.
Anyone recommend it or have other recs?

I have one in .357 but carry .38 +p in it. Really good CCW. My wife carries it in her car. The grip is big rubber that helps with snappy recoil.
I have a 986 2.5” as well. It’s a good bit bigger L frame than a LCR. It’s not really made for IWB or pocket carry like the LCR. I do like the 7 shot capacity. Also requires moon clips.

Honestly, I’m looking for something my wife can shoot reliably too.
Smaller hands, may be better for her.
I should try to shoot it first. The grip length just threw me off.

I’ll look into those too.

I wanted to buy pistols for each of my adult daughters. Something easy…just aim and shoot without having to pull the slide on an automatic. On the advice of a firearms instructor I bought 3 Ruger LCR’s in 9mm. It was exactly what I was looking for. I liked them so much, I bought one for myself. Good gun.

Wife has one and loves it. She tried the Smith 637, Taurus snub, and the Ruger LCR when making her decision. The Hogue grip the LCR comes with made the difference with control and recoil. Also helps prevent bite in the webbing area between the thumb and finger. Trigger is very smooth with a clean break.
The LCR will shoot any 38 round without issues - the Smith and Taurus do not recommend hotter loads due to frame design limitations. Not an issue with Ruger. That may not matter right now but if ammo gets scarce again you'll have more options with Ruger.

I have one in 327 federal but usually loaded with 32 h&r mag. No complaints so far. The trigger might be a little smoother than a j frame

It’s really fast for a revolver. The titanium cylinder is light and allows for really fast shooting. Nice trigger from the performance center shop. For a 2.5” gun it’s really accurate. If you get one order some moon clips from TK customs. You can get a 5 pack for $25.

That grip makes it so much softer than a j frame. I’d rather talk you out of it than shoot you with my j frame.

The trigger on the Ruger is so much easier to pull.
(I know "in an emergency situation you won't be worried about trigger pull"

Trigger pull on a S&W 642 is somewhere around 13 lbs.
I think the trigger pull on the Ruger is around 9 lbs. MUCH easier to shoot.

Miserable gun to shoot. All the pocket revolvers are miserable. I'd go with a 380 auto before I carried a pocket revolver.

Eh, a snubnose is tough for anyone, and esp for a woman who isn’t going to practice with it.

I sometimes carry a Ruger LCR. It’s 357 but I only shoot 38 spl. It’s great for pocket carry but sometimes I appendix carry also.
As far as shooting, with 38spl it’s about as smooth as a small snubnose will ever be. My first snubnose was a Taurus. The Ruger’s trigger is much smoother. It’s not bad to shoot at the range. I’m not going to put 200 rounds through it in one session, but it’s not uncomfortable. The grip is small, of course. It’s why you can pocket carry it. For reference, I’m very tall and my fingers are longer than average, and I don’t have problems with the grip.
If you want a snub for carrying, the Ruger LCR is a great option.

I have two in .357. I bought one for my wife and her mother. My mother-in-law now has dementia so I have that one now, and my wife didn’t like shooting hers because of the heavy trigger pull.
Personally I love it. It rides well in a pocket holster or in a belly band when exercising. I carried it a lot when I had my arm in a sling and had to shoot off-handed.

Trigger is excellent. Snappy lil gun even in .38 spl. I like it for a pocket/ankle gun then flipped to a keltec pf9 for more rounds and smaller profile but pf9 trigger travel is from here to bawcomville
