Anyone here with a Chevy HD 6.6L gasser?

Any info would be helpful.
I decided to get new 3500 and also convinced myself the gasser is the best route for my needs "recreational." Biggest regular job it will have is 500 plus mile round trips Towing a lifted Ranger Crew and gear to camp. My 1500 has been doing the same job for years but it's time to get a more solid platform.

I had a 2020. Put 70k trouble free miles on it. Pulled everything I needed. Took it to Houston every 3 months or so and could get 19 mpg on the interstate doing 75.

I appreciate it. The engine design is what has me interested, low compression made to run on 87.
I had a 95 Chevy w/350 tb. Same premise low compression. I had well over 400k on it, ran like a clock.
I'm expecting the 6.6l will have similar result with no AFM.

We sell plenty of them, matter of fact the Silverado 2500HD Custom w/6.6L gas is our quickest selling variant…

Not Suprised the 6.6l gasser production is limited compared to the Duraamaxx

GH22 no it's more about the gas engine.
I purchased a new 95 1500 w/350 tb & promised it to my daughter she was 3 yo.
It had a little over 400k when I gave it to her. The low compression engine was tired but ran like a clock it was paired to a built 4L60. The truck was connected to us 400k plus miles, went every where with her and had dogs with over a 100k riding in the bed.
It later saved my daughter's life as another driver put her into a wall. Air lifted and all. Serious shite. We loved that truck, the tailgate hangs on the wall in my cave. The tailgate/lights and bumper were the only things on it that weren't folded up. Motor/transmission tried coming up through the floor.
Anyway years later here I'm looking at a low compression 400 sb with no AFM built to run on 87.
Fits my needs as I don't "haul" for a living so I don't need a diesel. 3/4 vs 1 ton $ is only a few bucks. I have other trucks for work but I'm a contractor.

I know a few people who have them. None are high mileage yet but no problems with any of them. I think youre making the best choice of the current products. I want to like the ford 7.3 more, but it doesnt seem to hold up as well as the 6.6 chevrolet.

Thought hard about a swap. Tuners don't want to play with the L8T. I almost went L8P as there are tunes for it. I don't need another hotrod at the moment.

I've seen those.
However his videos are well done and I enjoy watching them take them down. I'm not saying he's right on everything but production is good. Easy to see. Some of the YouTube shops I've watched are such poor production I cant see anything.

Really? What have you seen or heard negative on the 7.3? From a design standpoint it is super simple and "bullet proof". The 6.6 is also a good motor from a design standpoint but does have the high pressure fuel system.

Cam/lifter issues. Buddy of mine is a paramedic and had lots of issues with them in ambulances. Much harder service than a pickup but exactly what it is supposed to be built for.
Supposedly it was addressed in the 2024 models but I dont know anyone who has a new one. I suspect Ford sells a lot more diesels to private owners than gas. Everybody I know with a Ford 3/4 or 1 ton has a diesel. Chevrolet probably 50/50 and Dodge a lot more gas than diesel.

I have a 2024 2500 with the 6.6 gas. Currently has 30k on it and overall I have been very pleased with the truck. I travel from Houston to Morgan City / Houma for work and to visit family and average around 17mpg hand calculated, computer on the truck shows higher. If you keep it around 70 the truck gets decent mileage for size and weight, in town I get around 13mpg. 10 speed transmission is the biggest question mark for me, we will see how it holds up but so far so good.

Well I plan to buy a travel trailer if the wife can ever figure out a floor plan she likes that doesn’t cost 80k lol. But I also didn’t want any of the fuel management BS that comes on the 1500 models. I didn’t go diesel because of the extra 10k up front and the what ifs surrounding diesels, emissions and fuel pumps. I drive about 12 miles to work everyday and figured that would not be the best for a diesel. So I settled on the 2500 gas and the understanding that while towing a travel trailer a hand full of times a year I would do it I won’t get the same results and performance as a diesel and I fine with that.

I saw a video on that but apparently it hadn't carried over to the trucks. Maybe something to do with the tune.

Have a 2024 2500 HD. 62,000 miles and has been flawless. Pull my 24 ft bay boat all the time. Didn’t know if I’d like it going from diesel to gas but I would do it again
