Does it exist? Any good public land hunting and fishing tips you mind telling me about? I'm considering a job there. Do I need a parka? I'm a coonass who's only been as far north as Seattle in September.

Yes

Much better access than in Louisiana, but deer is mostly tag/ lottery only in most of that area unless you are a land owner. Pheasant is king, they look down on the ducks...

When I was in college a few of my classmates and I drove up to a small little village near Devil's Lake in ND. We stayed with our professor who's the president of Delta Waterfowl. Just did some duck nest searching and birding.
It was May and it was still cold as hell. Can't imagine how the winters would be up there. The little town we stayed in was straight out of a movie. There were little houses and shacks everywhere but there weren't many people around. There was a single restaurant/bar in the middle of the town that all the people would gather at because it was the only place to get food within miles from there. Pretty neat experience.

Great if you are an outdoorman. If you are not and have no family ties, not much there. Ask Dale Brown.

Don't need a parka. Just wear long pants.

Been on 6 trips up there, both pheasant and duck hunting. Access to private land is easy, especially away from population centers (Fargo, Bismarck, Minot). Lots of public ground too. It's a great area for a waterfowl or upland hunter.

I wanted to do a spring snow goose hunt during college but never did

Yes, <800,000 people in the entire state.
There is a reason for that.

I was there for a week in October it was very nice. I imagine it gets cold about this time of year though.. Best thing is you can hunt any land that is not posted and most land is not posted.

I've been to Bismarck for work but no hunting.
Its freaking miserable cold. I don't know how they live there TBH. They will go weeks at a time without getting over 10 degrees.
Last year they had several days of -25 with 40-50 mph winds. Who needs that bullshite?

Got all the way up there, didn't like what I saw, so I turned around.

Been in Minot for two years. Yes it gets damn cold but it's a dry cold. If the wind isn't blowing it's not bad at all. The bird hunting is incredible, waterfowl is great too but as soon as it freezes up they head out. Deer is very good but like others have mentioned tags are tough to come by. The best thing is you are within driving distance of Saskatchewan and Montana if you want to get serious about hunting.

20 years ago, after my divorce, I dated a girl that was from Mandan. Before we met she had been in the Air Force at Keesler. When she got discharged she moved to NOLA because she refused to go back and live in ND. She said that she got used to the warm weather on the Gulf Coast and would never return to visit family in ND during the winter.
She was part Native American and part Swedish. She had an olive complexion, with long, dark, straight hair. And she had ice blue eyes. Most probably the best looking girl I ever dated.
