Buddy of mine is on a hunt in Kansas. He said it’s terrible. Another one hunted a nice place near mer rouge and they didn’t pull a trigger (like Alec Baldwin) yesterday

It’s foggy AF in southern Terrebonne parish this morning. Feel bad for anyone sitting in a duck blind in these conditions. “Red arse” level would be…high.

Had a couple good hunts around Augusta. Still pumping up in Ms. . Hopefully it will be good by end of the month.

Hunt in Grand Chenier north of the refuge. First week was good with mostly teal, a few grays and mottles. Killed 82 out of our pot hole first week 1/2, but been slow since then. Won't be going back til second split.

Fished Bayou Black Thursday afternoon. About 4, the ducks started flying like crazy. Bunches of 10 - 50 flying over every couple minutes. They were all high but there was a whole bunch of them. Way more of them than sacalait for sure.

Yep… fog didn’t lift until damn near 8 and no wind today. Saw plenty of ducks.. I just think the ducks here know where we are. They light in between our blinds. lol. No wind has been the only days I’ve had shitty hunts this year.

These ducks know exactly where they can go to not get shot. The weather recently hasn't been great duck hunting weather either though. A nice cold front and some rain would hopefully push some new birds in.

No doubt they knew where we were. The first week they were dive bombing us. Today I saw hundreds of ducks and you would’ve thought we had a force field around the blind. Had about 50 grays working at around 9… they circled and circled but never came close, then they lit 100 yards out between the other blind 550 yards away. Somebody close to us shot over 100 times during the fog. Whatever they were doing was working lol

have not seen shite for deer but have had minimum 20 wood ducks within range damn near every day. About to say f it and start going sit with rifle and shotgun. I normally don’t start doing that til end of season when we ain’t seeing shite.

Then you'll have deer coming lay down next to you and not a single wood duck in the air.

I've seen more deer than squirrels since October. Horrible hunting season so far.

No luck again this morning.. the fog didn’t leave until 9 am. I stayed until 11am hopeing to see some birds but gave up.

The only action I had was a hunter in a boat who saw my decoys and started shooting at them. He got off three shots my decoys, and I quickly let off a shot and he screamed I’m sorry and put it in reverse and never came around the turn.

I am thinking of paying for a hunt in a flooded field… I see posts on fb 200 a gun.. do y’all think that’s worth it right now? I could just use the 200 on more decoys and a mojo in hopes of being able to attract more ducks. I just haven’t seen any real numbers the last two trips and I would be worried they might not have the numbers to shoot at.

I hunt a flooded field and it was good the first week. Pretty slow since then. If you do a guided trip, wait until the last week of the second split or try to find one when the weather gets cold.

Where do you hunt?

Just starting out… have been to sherburne 3 times and walked in each time and setup. I have 12 decoys and a couple of ripplers. Thinking of going to biloxi WMA via boat or maybe try marpaus next.

16’ bass tracker boat that isn’t setup to hunt out of so I probably will just cover with brush and hide in the marsh

Fair Oaks, AR here. Decent opening weekend but very random after that. We have water pumped into woods and rice fields but a lot of farms around us are dry. Need water and cold fronts.

And poster above me I agree, the harder the rain, the more we kill.

If you’re not seeing 200 birds why put out that many decoys? You’d be better served with 9-12 decoy spread of high quality decoys.

I'm wholly convinced they are getting smarter. Would opening up some restricted zones for a year every couple of years help you think?

No juvenile ducks. Poor hatch. No water in the prairies. There are alot of ducks down… but like you all said, they are more prepared for a decoy spread than typical.
